This run seemed fun. I had a Smolensk run with a start like this. It was rough, I only got lucky that PLC didn't happen so Poland actually became an ally of mine until after a war with Muscovy. Once that war ended they ended the alliance.

After playing in western Europe enough, I was facepalming at you even attempting to keep Muscovy as an ally. It's pretty common for Muscovy to break alliance over desiring land you have, even with 100 trust they would break alliance if I took some land in the Baltic region.

Hey Hawk/KZbin, i have a question. There's this clergy estate option that givess + 3 church power (whatever your religion may be i mean) and -3 church power on building-destroying churches and it gives +5% eq. and +5% inf. for them. You dont you ever pick it? is there a negative im missing with it? bc it helps my clergy EQ a lot, especially early game and clergy inf. is rarely a problem and i dont see any other negatives.. or is it personal preference bc you feel you dont need it? anyways thanks in advance for any answers!

More influence means lower crownland equilibrium, meaning you can lose more/gain less crownland when conquering. More crownland = more money through sale of titles. This does not matter much if you have ridiculously high total estate influence, however.

A lot of times this essentially boils down to three things: * tech advantage * army composition * choosing your battles If you want to win with far less troops the go-to strategy (as far as I'm aware and concerned) is to get ahead at least one mil tech (or get past a crucial tech like 6 when everyone else is 5), setting up your army to cover combat width appropriately (with cav, if you can afford it and your ideas make cav worth it). Then you essentially go for a guerilla war, meaning you choose defensive battles over attacking, try to pick off smaller stacks wherever possible and choose favourable combat terrain like mountains, where the attacker gets a -1 or -2 on their rolls. In addition to that, you can try to have at least one ally that the AI will consider weaker than you, because then it'll go for them first, giving you time to conquer key forts and maybe even ramping up enough war score to get the peace deal you want after they peace out your ally. Or, on the other end of the spectrum, get a major power to ally and steamroll your enemy for you. Lastly, try to time your wars. When the country you're attempting to fight is occupied in another war, chances are that their troops are not going to be hiding immediately around the corner, sitting in the FoW. My go-to example is the pre-1.35 Byz starts where you'd most of the time wait for the Ottomans to attack Karaman or any other Anatolian minor so that most (or optimally, all) of their troops are landlocked in Anatolia, allowing you to block the straits with naval superiority.

I think you should be allowed to form nations (without culture swapping), that don’t exist in 1444 (like Ruthenia in this campaign) as it is an important part of properly playing a released nation.

Why not release some of the vassals from Lithuania and reconquer their cores? Chernigov and Kiev would be great ones. Think Smolensk and Red Ruthenia (?) has quite a few cores too. You were struggling for allies anyway, it's a great way to fill out the 6 diplo slots (with Strong Dutchies enabled)
