@@jeremiecroussette6323 There are TONS of hidden mechanics in EU4, that most don't bother explore. For example, a major element is exploiting rivarlies: as ottomans are forced in truces at the beginning of the games, you can insult them and get an instant bonus in relationships with all their rivals, which are exactlymajor powers at the time. You can also send them gifts - and yes, you do that by taking money out on a loan, another mechanic that new players rarely uses. You also need to know what you are doing: an undervalued ally for early byzantium are the knights, as their fleet - if you are allied with them - combined with yours allow you to gain control of the straits, all but isolating the western, weaker side of the ottomans from the rest of the empire. You also need to know which powers to give to the estates, as to make up for the difference in military talent early on, and what is the best combination for your troops (new players make almost 50-50 infantry and cavarly, an absurd mistake. 5:32 I think the reason you won a decisive victory despite being vastly outnumbered (112 ships to 60) was that you had 20 galleys while the Spanish had none. Ships have combat width in the same way that land units do, only a single heavy ship takes up multiple slots. Galleys have both a smaller width and a combat bonus on inland seas, like the Mediterranean. Thus a larger number of galleys were able to concentrate their fire on smaller numbers of heavy ships that formed the first line. Having an admiral with a two pip shock bonus while Spain had no leader at all also helped. This is a good example of why a navy should be balanced in ship composition and suited to the nation's needs. Galleys are dirt cheap and a large fleet of them can be maintained by even a small power as long as they have enough sailors. When I play as the Ottomans or Russia my navies are almost exclusively galleys.

@NetherPrime7 жыл бұрын
In everywhere galleys are worse than heavy ships, i don't care about your experience the stats for heavy ships and galleys prove 1:1 heavy ships are better. They're more durable and have the galley's damage bonus permanently. Theres loads of reasons for why you won and it wasn't because you had galleys and he had heavy ships. galleys are much cheaper and have better value overall so it's a lot easier using galley's while having a large land army.
@verdiss74877 жыл бұрын
NetherPrime In a recnt patch they made heavies take up 3 combat width instead of 1. That means that only 9 heavies can engage simultaneously without a maneuver admrial, while 27 galleys can. Galleys have similar damage in inland seas even 1 to 1, so they deal nearly three times as much damage per combat width. There is literally no question that a fleet of galleys in an inland sea is better than a fleet of heavies.

Craaaap all these videos on the theme "what if the Byzantine Empire never fell" make me wish they were true and the Empire would still be around, either as a monarchy or a republic. Still would be kick-ass to see it. No Dark Ages had to be a good thing for everyone

Klient States
@rambard55996 жыл бұрын
That's the tag for client states. Since client states are created instead of being pre-made in the game, the only pre-made thing that the game has about them (and thus the only thing it can show on the timeline) is the tag. K00 onward is client states, C00 onward is colonial nations, and D00 onward is custom nations if I recall correctly.

question: on your first war with the ottomans you allied poland ( how did you manage to do this as a weak nation with the wrong religion? ) and hungary ( again, they are catholic while you are orthodox ) and the freaking mamluks ( who are sunni, doesnt that give you a -30 relationship malus because they see you as a heathen? also besides the point that you are weak as shit in the beginning which makes it even more unlikely that they would ally you ) and then call them all into the first war against the ottomans by promising them land, but you used that war to take all your greek cores back, while giving your allies nothing. This should have lowered your trust with them quite a fair bit ( which breaks the alliances you have with them), yet later you call poland in again in a war against austria. all this seems impossible to me, so my question to you is this: did you use cheats?

Player skill gives you the +enough relation modifier that allows you to ally those that you want. It also gives + enough on the trust portion allowing you to keep them as your allies. I think that they don't want the land that's too far from them so they aren't as pissed? Also, reconquest.
