Ego is about the excuses we make in love, claiming to be too busy while we're really just caught up in distractions. It’s easy to act chivalrous without genuinely being so. It's also about the false version of love being show to us now, what the f*ck is Love Island about? It's godamn shag island. And that's ok, but it certainly ain't a Disney movie, so don't use the word love.

Through his genre bending songwriting, Euan Hart blends contemporary folk foundations with vivid pop threads defining himself as a stylistic chameleon in the alt-folk/pop scene in both hemispheres. The unique sonic landscapes created in his music are worlds created solely by Hart in his home studio where he records and produces all releases to date - a testament to his skill in production and singular recording techniques.
Drawing upon influences such as Weyes Blood, Father John Misty and Andy Shauf, Hart’s tongue in cheek lyricism blur the lines between the devastating truths of heartbreak and the rituals of daily life, showing that a lot of the times they are one in the same.
Ego serves as an homage to the timeless theme of unrequited love, a motif deeply rooted in literature, from the melancholic verses of Petrarch to the poignant soliloquies of Shakespeare. This age-old narrative has found renewed relevance in contemporary society, where the paradox of choice often complicates genuine connections. While chivalry endures as a symbol of romantic ideals, one might ponder: in this era of boundless options and fleeting encounters, has true love become an elusive relic of the past?
