Heterochromatin and euchromatin - this lecture explains about Euchromatin and heterochromatin properties and functions. It will also help you to understand the difference between heterochromatin and euchromatin. Heterochromatin is a tightly packed type of DNA, which comes in multiple sorts. These types lie on a continuum between the 2 extremes of constitutive and facultative heterochromatin. Both play a position in the expression of genes.
Constitutive heterochromatin can have an impact on the genes close them (function-outcomes variegation). It's quite often repetitive and varieties structural functions akin to centromeres or telomeres, furthermore to acting as an attractor for other gene-expression or repression indicators.
Facultative heterochromatin is the outcome of genes which can be silenced through a mechanism comparable to histone deacetylation or piRNA via RNAi. It isn't repetitive and shares the compact constitution of constitutive heterochromatin. Nonetheless, underneath targeted developmental or environmental signaling cues, it may well lose its condensed structure and end up transcriptionally energetic.
Heterochromatin has been associated with the di and tri-methylation of H3K9 in distinctive portions of the genome.
Euchromatin is a frivolously packed type of chromatin (DNA, RNA and protein) that is rich in gene awareness, and is most commonly (however no longer always) underneath energetic transcription. Euchromatin comprises probably the most lively component of the genome within the mobilephone nucleus. 92% of the human genome is euchromatic. The the rest is known as heterochromatin.

Histone octamer + Dna -----> nucleosome. Neclosomes +Linker Dna (H1 histone )'s -----> chromatin . NHC Protein + Chromatin ----> 1 . Euchromatin . 2. Heterochromatin.
