To charge up the S40 that's not positioned in a optimum area or the Winter has provided the camera with days of overcast. On a sunny day when you are home and aware of the area where the camera observing, shut it off for a few hours. I have been able to fully charge a unit where the battery depletes slightly more than the charge that's it's receiving. This allows me to place the camera wherever without having to remove it for charging. I have 4 of these units placed around my home and the back of my home gets very little sunlight. The solar panel is still charging the battery even though it's not in direct sunlight. I periodically shut that camera down and charge it up from whatever power the solar panel provides to the camera batteries without having to remove the camera. Even if I had purchased the Eufy 2C pro, which I had considered, where you can attach a solar panel up to 13 feet from the camera still is in a shaded area from where I need the camera to monitor. In addition there would be more items attached to the house which can become an eyesore.

I've got a eufy floodlight cam but Google home only recognises under "device type" as a light. Therefore in Google home I cannot view the camera, only turn the light on and off. Nobody seems to be able to sort it. My other eufy cams work but any cam that has a light means that Google classes it as a light instead of cam. Any luck with this?

So I'm just finding out that the S40 only supports 2.4Ghz wifi networks. I'm running 5G in my house and I can't seem to switch to the 2.4 network. Any suggestions?

You might need to seperate your 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands on your wifi router with unique ssid names and then you can manually pick the 2.4ghz wifi during S40 setup.

I would not depend on RING floodlight @around $200 for any detail of face or license plates in case of robbery etc.

I know one I would like it to be able to detect by itself would be cars. I know other camera's can do this so it would be nice if they had this as well. It would be nice in case some one tries to drive in the driveway to get closer to the car to be notified of that.

very nice overview! Does the internal storage overwrite the oldest video data when it gets full or do you have to clear the storage and start over?

It overwrites automatically. Typically holds months of footage for me.

There is a web interface for live view and viewing cloud based recordings. Maybe some settings too but I forget.

Very good and useful reviews. As for motion detection, can you schedule it? For example, we have so much traffic during the day so don't want motion detection during the day. But I want motion detection at night. Does Eufy allow me to do that?

Yes you can setup a schedule and different modes (ie home, away) and you can have it do different things in those modes. For example you can have it record motion (or not) but not notify you in home mode. You can also control if the camera alarm goes off and if the light turns on based on modes/schedule.

The cameras work together in the same app but you can't live view more than one at a time

You didn't tell us or show us how fast you get notifications from the camera movement

That will vary based on your internet for you camera and device. Typically, it's 1-2 secs from motion to phone notification for me.

Hiya, I just bought the s40 and added it to my google home app, but it thinks the device type is a light! Your video has given me hope that it’ll work somehow. Does your camera still stream to google home devices? Any insight you can share would be amazing.

What command are you giving to google or what are you trying to do? You should be able to say "show me the (s40 name) cam" and it'll show the live camera feed on a google hub device.

On the website you can live view anywhere with internet but it doesn't access local video recordings, only cloud ones when you have the subscription. With the app you can view local recordings from anywhere with internet.

Depends on needs. S40 if you have sun light where you want to mount, 2c pro if you want spotlight and 2pro if you want the best battery-only no spotlight cam. Not all but the s40 require a home base.

Great video I just bought this camera the only thing I dont like is I can't automate when I get notifications like on wyze I use ifttt to do that but they don't have eufy in there system do u know a work around?

You can add the eufy to google home and/or Alexa. I think then you could include it in automation. I have added mine to google but I havent tried any automation with it yet.
