I just connected mine to my wifi but the instructions that came don't say much. Mine has no solor panel. I'm trying to figure out how to make the spot light come on after it's triggered. I did a test and no light came on. I have to put it on myself while it's live feed. Any help? Mine is solo cam L20/ L40

Have one of these. My first one lasted a month and then we had a really hard rain and water got inside the unit and killed the motion detection. Didn't think that was possible considering the 67 rating. Eufy replaced it fast which is a plus. Thinking of some type of extra waterproofing in spots around the unit but would probably void the warranty

Hello, great video. just one question. I'm planning on buying this camera soon. And I'm as well planning on expanding the collection in the future with multiple cams and the doorbell as well. The cameras I'm planning to buy as expanding are the Eufy cam 3 s330 (think these are the followup cams to this one) but they work with the home base 3 as well as the doorbell from Eufy. Is this going to be a problem in compatibility? Anything I need to look after, or maybe any advice on doing this or not? I thank you in advance!!

Hello. Thank you & thanks for watching! No problem with compatibility. All of Eufy’s cameras work together in the Eufy App. I’ve heard good things about the S330, but haven’t had a chance to try one yet.

Local storage with a SD Card. This is a stand alone camera & does not work with HomeBase.

I wish there was, but there’s not. Eufy has a Homebridge/Hoobs plug-in, but it’s horrible.

Issue solved, needed to be installed with 2.4ghz wifi 🤦🏽‍♂️, i had to walk away a bit from my house to automatically activate the 2.4ghz, 🤷🏽‍♂️

Love the video! very informative. I have a random question. I didnt charge the cameras when i got them. I mounted them straight out of the box in my garage and roof. One had 100% battery and the other was 75%. Is that bad?

Not ideal, but you should be fine as long as they are holding their charge.

Thanks! Yes you can & yes it will. But if you want to watch them all at the same time, the Eufy app doesn’t work that way.

How long will a fully charged battery run before it has to be recharged if it gets no sunlight. The reason I’m asking is because my front door faces east and I only get a short amount of morning light. Is there a battery level so you can truly see if the solar panel is charging the battery sufficiently?

I haven’t even come remotely close to the battery dying, so I can’t answer that question. I really think you’ll be fine. Yes, there is a battery indicator in the Eufy app.

Thank you, excellent review . question: can I turn on/off wifi to use it as a standalone camera without connection to the network? (of course i know the app wont work without connectivity) Is there a user interface in the camera menu or is it only configurable via the app? how do I download the hours long recording to my laptop? Only via wifi?

Thank you! You need Wi-Fi for this camera to work & you configure everything in The Eufy App. This is a Wi-Fi camera, not an ‘IP’ camera. You’d be downloading clips, not hours long recordings.

You save the clip from the phone or tablet app. You don’t need a laptop.

Then this isn’t the camera for you. You’d need a wired NVR system for your specific needs.

I haven’t personally tried it. I’m not a big fan of Homebridge. But I see no reason it should be compatible with the Eufy Plugin.

From the app, can you zoom the camera by pinching your screen? I really wanted to see how this looks at night. You showed it at night but only for a few seconds. How long does the light stay on once motion is detected? How long will it record or save video? Are you able to talk to someone through the camera by using the app like the video doorbells? Can you set a schedule when you wanted it to alert you of motion and when to not alert you? Can you install a micro SD card to expand the storage capabilities?

This video is almost two years old. Got rid of that camera a year 1/2 ago. So I can’t answer these questions because I don’t recall. Eufy has had two new models since then.

It’s not as ideal as direct sunlight, but you should still get a charge during the day.

I have tis camera, it’s in shade about 50% of the time, the battery has never been under about 80% and we’re in winter. It’s also been out in horrendous rain with no problems.

I’ve had zero issues with the wifi connection. I have a mesh system in my shop & that camera is within 50 feet of one of the mesh satellites.

No, but I don’t know why you’d need such a thing. I’ve had that camera since I filmed that video & I’ve had zero problem keeping the camera fully charged (even with the shorter days).

And the corner doesn't get much direct sunlight. Not sure if the built in solar panel of the camera can still capture enough ambient light to charge the camera

I’d put it in a spot where it at least gets direct sunlight for a couple hours. Maybe do the Eufy Doorbell on the front door and put the SoloCam somewhere else?

It has 8GB of storage built in. Eufy claims that’s 2 months worth (I get about that much). AES128 Military Grade Encryption. It does not support HomeBase. It’s a standalone camera.

Battery powered BUT -- not replaceable, so you just have to trash the camera when the battery dies. . . Eufy needs to get a clue on this. Their excellent doorbell also has an internal battery that is not replaceable unless you're handy with a soldering gun

Ok so, just to kill this argument real quick lol.....the battery that these units use are 300 CYCLES to 80% capacity. These cameras will go through ONE cycle probably once every 3-4 months. So in one year you'll do 3 CYCLES. so if you ran this camera for 20 years that would be 60 cycles......so please stop it with the "nOnE rEpLaCeAbLe bAtTeRy"
