No I hadn't heard of this. Know the Terzetto Dvorak well. Sometimes Cellos are in short supply. Also getting familiar with Taneyev. When celiist late, sick ...etc Not listed at IMSLP Thanks!

Ysaye composed the two violin sonata for himself and other violinst, but he thought it was too difficult and arranged the piece for 2 violins and viola.
@Limurfulyalya4 жыл бұрын
quite the opposite. Ysaye wrote the trio op 19. for himself, Lionel Tertis and Desire Defauw in 1915.. After, he made a version for two violins which was didecated to Reine Elisabeth, the queen of Belgium. She was a great admirer of Ysaye, and named the famous competition after him. In fact the first two editions of the competition, in 1937 for violin and in 1938 for piano, were named after Ysaÿe.In 1951 the competition was renamed for its patroness, Queen Elisabeth.

Is this an arrangement of the two violin sonata?
@mikesarafyan66506 жыл бұрын
Yes, it was arranged due to technical difficulties.
