Keep in mind, the Five stars are based on my needs for this item kzbin.infoUgkxUHHotQRjIQnfuxEeVotlkHVYWH0DXZoS When I first bought the bike I was going to return it immediately. After trying it out for several days/weeks I came to realize it is actually perfect for WHY I bought it.This is not a workout, the resistance is, eh, it makes a bit of noise, not loud, and it isn’t very stable even with the mat. The mat certainly keeps the bike from sliding but nothing keeps the mat from sliding (if that makes any sense, lol). Mine is place on my hard wood floor. Maybe it would be better with a rug underneath??I sit for long hours for work and wanted something to keep my legs moving. This bike does exactly that! For the price it is amazing, it is compact, easy to use, light weight, keeps track of time, calories etc (not sure how accurate it is) but good little product. I am happy with it.

I have a paramount version in my gym. Used to be hidden away with butt blaster in ladies locker room. This is now my favorite machine for Glutes and quads. If you hate squats, give this a try seriously. My hip and ankle mobility is shockingly bad and i've never been close to ATG squatting. This just feels so safe in the hole (lol) and really gave me a perfect squat position to stretch the quads, better than anything else hands down.

Hey Eugene, many thanks for the breadth of useful knowledge along with your humble approach when it comes to teaching. Typically I like to switch things up between the vsquat machine/hackpress vs. Regular barbell squatting depending on whether I feel like training more towards hypertrophy or strength that specific leg day. I've been seeing amazing results doing the old school barbell squat with an emphasis on a 5 second eccentric, pause at the bottom, powering back up without locking your knees... it works great for me. But like you said in a different video the way these machine squats promote time under tension is extremely helpful . I will be giving it a try with resistance bands next leg day. Thanks again!!

The Atlantis machines are amazing, you worked hard to having those as your weapons so fair play to you man!

As far as using equipment, I like it all but in slow rep cadans (1-6-pause) to be conscious of the amount of tension from my own ability to contract rather then letting the weight dictate my movement and mentally I feel more protected.

I do pendulum squats on an Arsenal brand machine. I never could get decent technique and depth with the barbell. I believe the pendulum is safe because the angle of the plate and the arch in the movement actually punches the lower back against the support.
@metamodernbarbell
@metamodernbarbell 7 ай бұрын
It's important I think to differentiate the pendulum squat from V-Squat type machines - they are superficially similar but usually very different and infact vastly inferior in almost all cases. Some machines have optimised for the reverse position, & these can be decent - but any multi-joint exercise machine with an arc has the possibility of being hit and miss, even the pendulum; your height, femur length, & leg:torso ratio can all be factors in squat machines.

I go to a powerlifting gym that basically has only barbells, a pullup/dip station and some heavy dumbells. It's actually a blessing sometimes to have limited equipment as it forces you to become stronger on basic lifts or you won't progress.

Nice video, I would like to try such a machine. Anyway, I am curious about the safety: what happens if, when training to failure, I realize halfway up that I can't finish that rep? Is there any "safety end" or will I end up crushing towards my feet arching my back in a very dangerous way? Thank you.

For me personally as a Powerlifter, when I squat low bar I never go higher than 6 reps and with the high bar squat, I never go higher than 8 reps. I always had better results with using a high bar squat as it places more emphasis on the quads rather than the hips and glutes when it comes to the low bar squat, however, the best mass builder I ever used to develop my quads were the hack squat which is similar to the pendulum squat, bringing your feet further down the platform to incorporate more quads as the higher the foot placement the more glute activation you receive, and walking lunges. I do these with higher reps, so I would pick a weight where I fail at 10-12 reps then rest pause until I reach a total of 20 reps 😉

Generally speaking, you can put a lot more effort into the target muscles without taxing the nervous system as much. Even moreso if you do it with some kind of balance support like @mountaindog1 You also get to train the rear leg through a lengthened position - one that you don't get on any of the other squat variations

If you had limited space in your gym(mine is a shed at home) and you already have all the basics and are already fairly "optimal". Between a leg press, a hack squat, and a pendulum squat, which one would you pick, in the context of maximizing quad hypertrophy? I'm already doing SSB, high bar, lunges, and extensions. Long femurs here so quads are a weak point. Would also use it for a calf raise.

Hopefully I will be able to load some plates on it one day :D. My question is does the counter weight help a lot with that or could I add some counterweight at the beginning to warm up without adding any weight on my shoulders or does it mess up anything? The trainer said I should always use half the counterweight of theweight on my shoulders.

Great video! For me legs and back can be built most efficiently through machines rather than barbells and dumbles

I use the Watson pendulum squat. Very smooth however it doesn't have a counter balance?
@coacheugeneteo
@coacheugeneteo 4 жыл бұрын
It's definitely 'smooth' - it's literally you moving against gravity. But without a counterweight it's pretty terrible as there's no real drop off. And the foot plate angle is trash for your knees

Not really a fan as the range of motion on most machines is pretty terrible

6:10 bro, you could have just taken the footage, muted the sound on it, and played some non copyright music over the top 🤦‍♂️

Would u prefer smith squat over regular free weight squat?

Depends on the Smith Machine, but the stability offered does typically mean you can focus more output onto the Legs.

The PS machine at my gym doesn't have a set counterweight - you have to add weights, and without that counter, using the machine is very difficult at first (I didn't quite get it at first), however, out of all the "squat" type machine - leg press, hack squat or squat machine, the PS machine really blasts your legs. I'm looking forward to getting back on the machine, finding the proper counter weight so i can experience a full ROM and then using progressive overload - thanks - this was the video that inspired me on that machine

Hey Eugene, would super squat machine be a close comparison to this? I have yet to find a gym with a pendulum squat but managed to find one with a super squat where the weight seems to swing inwards.

Hey, what do you think about Hoist dual action leg press. I found it also creating a lot of tension in the leg.
