This was the one. This is where I first encountered Eugene Chadbourne. Honestly, I had never seen anything like it and is crossed three musical boundaries all at once in a pick-up truck made of bacon and beans. He's playing a nearby town in October. Be damned if I'm not going. We lost Allan Holdsworth. I'll never get to see Robert Fripp. Missed out on Adrian Belew AND Tony Levin on a ProjecKt tour. This man is one of my all time guitar heroes and a musical inspiration. Eddie was a bit of fun and all RIP, but Eugene Chadbourne is on another planet.

I saw him in 87 or 88 and I didn't quite know how to take it until he really got going.Wonderfully discordant, noisy, funny and honest. He had Sylvester Stallone hand puppets. His playing was all over the place. I remember Eight Miles High. At times he reminded me of Devo, but generally it was pretty much brand new to me. I got what he was on about. Not surprised a Reaganite feared him. He was speaking and playing the truth.

I love free-improv, but I have to say that this stuff must look and sound absolutely insane to the uninitiated.

Eugene plays free music. I mean, he's freed country music. I mean, this country isn't really free.

Hi Eugene, met you in Canberra, Australia in the 1980s through Dan Senn, you had a song "I could grow a million potatoes in their parking lot, but they'd rather make their french fries out of frozen snot" etc... What's the song called, where can I listen to it? Cheers, Demetri
