When he stopped drinking and doing the diligent work it was hard. College is supposed to be hard. The joke is that while doing the 12 steps he developed a level of self awareness and honesty with himself and the group he was part of and developing study skills had not been a priority. So he quit to preserve his newfound sobriety. Relapsing is too easy.

Holy Crap ANDY!! I met this guy several times at our local comedy club called "The Secret Group" . He was super nice in person and gave me great advice....although I don't remember ever asking for said advice lol
