The whole situation is a mess. Ashley deserves better, I think he's a fraud but I guess we have to wait for the reunion to get more clarity.

The Ramses and Marissa conversation about the military was so interesting! On one hand, the fact they left it till this late to discuss it was the whole reason we could actually experience a conversation like this because they would have cut it off way before this if they'd discussed it in the pods while now they do actually have to put some effort in to chat through their differing beliefs, which makes for an interesting watch... but it's so bizarre that they did not discuss this in the pods! They clearly both have very strong and clashing opinions on this, how was this not something that came up as soon as he learnt about her career history? I'm so baffled.

I was so pleasantly surprised by the stuff that was shown in this episode. A lot of new things this season like the talk about politics that go into who people have voted for. Loved the discussion between Garrett and Taylor talking about social media. They even managed to turn it into a flirty and goofing off thing with Garrett being like "I almost die chasing these fish", like ok Captain Ahab! And "You're the best catch of them all" 😂 Then Marissa and Ramses talking about the US destabilizing countries with its military? I was SHOCKED they left that in! I feel like--and this might just be the clips they picked from the pods--Marissa sounded a lot less attached to the military in the pods? It sounded to me like she was kind of fed up with the military, or at least dating military people. I didn't even realize she grew up in a military family until this episode.

Monica will never be satisfied with Stephen. Her standards are higher than him, and that's ok but don't punish him for not being the dream man that you want. She seems a bit elitist and she clearly values titles, labels and status. I'm not mad at her for her standards but her biggest mistake was not mentioning finances and other topics pertaining to that in the pods. She just wanted a quick husband, so much so that she even glossed over his cheating and tried consoling him for stepping out.

I’m not gonna lie, watching the recaps from this channel and others about marissa and Ramses being like “oooh they’re so cuuuute” I was truly confused because they do not seem compatible AT. ALL. Marissa and Bohden seemed so much more compatible to me, like they seemed to agree on so much more and just matched each other’s energy so well. When Marissa was like “I feel more romantic towards Ramses,” I was just like baby girl honey sweetie, you want a BEST FRIEND to share your life with - partnership is SO much more than romance. Romance is a big factor, and I firmly believe she and bohden should have been the match this season. They just matched so well imo. Being in the military may seem minute to some, but that is a HUGE MASSIVE part of their lives. It’s not something you just clock in and clock out from. Unpopular opinion Monica is a monster. I think she's being too literal when Stephen said he would give her her flowers. That is a common sentiment meaning that you appreciate and love and care for someone in the moment. It's not necessarily physical flowers. I'm just guessing but that's what it sounds like to me which is why he started talking about Concepts and she's staring him in the face literally asking about flowers. Also she dressed him down just for waxing poetic about how great she was the night before so it was weird that as soon as they had another deep conversation she's nailing him to the wall because he hasn't given her flowers yet, but they're literally still on their honeymoon. I think she's showing up as a condescending human being that gets pleasure from making Steven feel inadequate which is particularly dangerous for him because when he feels inadequate He Cheats. this is according to him in the pods. Perfect example is that while Stephen was talking to Garrett neither of them were outside watching the fireworks but did you see Taylor kicking Garrett in the balls because he wasn't outside with her? Nope just Monica... the monster. Mind you, I don't like Stephen either. I think he's someone who's learned to put on an act of this super nice guy but suffers because he's not getting his needs met and then feels justified in acting out passive aggressively, but I do think Monica is particularly cruel.

There's nothing wrong with this of course in a loving healthy relationship, but if you go back and look at their interactions she is pretty consistently letting him know that he's punching up (I would never have dated him, school, stature, etc) and she's making sure that he knows what he has to do to earn her but at no time have I seen her try to earn him or state her plan to do so. . She advocates for herself speaking clearly about her love language and what she needs to feel special but doesn't really say what she's going to do to make him feel special or worthy or seen. even when he's speaking, even when he's speaking about how much he likes her, he's speaking too much or saying the wrong things. when they're with their friends at the party she's rolling her eyes when he's talking and again constantly making him feel inadequate. She puts him down and sometimes she cuts him off, making great big sighs as she walks away. makes him the butt of the inside joke, looking at the other girls like do you see what I put up with? She literally says I'm not f****** around with him anymore at the second party. All while Stephen is actually still in it with her and still trying, jumping hoops and trying to impress her. I imagine this makes him feel bad. You can see it by how many times he shrinks and covers his mouth and says oh am I doing that thing again? (Again? So there are more criticisms we didn't even see?) or he takes a deep inhale and start staring off into the distance while he's trying to figure out how to respond to her while he's falling out of love with her and she's grilling him about flowers. listen I don't like either of these people but I do think she's a monster. If I had to throw words at it trying to understand what I am feeling come off of her, I think it's a kind of a narcissistic abuse pattern with pretty consistent criticisms sprinkled with some niceties along with more criticism and it shows up in how jumpy and unsure his responses are to her by the end of their very short honeymoon. "Is that all right? Did I do good this time?" Unfortunately with someone like Monica the answer is always either no or you did fine.

I almost threw my phone when she said gifts are her #3 love language, but she still expects regular gifts from a partner. That's 3 out of 5! Ma'am! It made me wonder if she has to fall back on her 3rd because she can't complain about the two first, which just feels like she's moving the goalpost at this point. I wish she'd just tell him directly if she isn't feeling him. But I think she doesn't want to be alone again.

I’m getting a little tired of people blaming Ramses for how the military conversation went down. Clearly, Marissa led him to believe she was not in line with that anymore. It was her past but she doesn’t want to claim that anymore. She wanted to be accepted by him so she down played her feelings about the military. He didn’t blame her for being part of the navy. He wasn’t trying to shame her about her past. Sad that she felt that way, her feelings are still valid. So he should have assured her more that he wasn’t judging. But honestly, I love that he held to his beliefs and stayed strong. Something Marissa clearly couldn’t do.

I stand with Monica at the fireworks situation. I forgot what study it was but there was a study that looked at couples who paid attention to the small things and acknowledged and engaged with it. It ended up being that those who acknowledged the thing ended up staying together and being happier in their relationships. I think this was the case here and it shows that he didn’t want to acknowledge the interest she had. To top it off he was just talking to someone and not doing something that prevented him from going for 2 mins

Am I the only one that doesn't buy the whole Nick/Hannah dynamic? They seem more like a brother/sister duo to me. I get the ick when I hear her saying "I love you" to him. I see 0 romance between them. Monica knows she chose the wrong man. She only continued to go with it so she could remain on the show.
