I have to follow up. I'm noticing something I didn't catch before. At around 2:18, you subtract the mass projected in the s direction. At this point in the video, mg (pgdsdA) ought to be the hypotenuse of the triangle. But then later around 3:43, the drawn triangle shows ds as the hypoteneuse and dz as the vertical component. I know the equation is correct, but I can't find the discrepancy. It doesn't seem correct though that we can "flip" these triangles or guarantee they are similar triangles

Sir, what are the fundamental equations of motion describing the fluid flow? I am new in this topic
@MechTechSimulations
@MechTechSimulations 3 жыл бұрын
The basic equations are Continuity equation and Momentum equations. Continuity equation is the mass/volume conservation equation. Momentum equation is the conservation of momentum in X Y and Z directions.

Please explain why the change in pressure is given by (dp/ds)×ds
@MechTechSimulations
@MechTechSimulations 6 жыл бұрын
Dear Japhet Kipkorir Rotich, the change in pressure with respect to change in space (element length in this context) is represented as (dp/ds). Hence the length of the fluid element is taken as ds, it is multiplied by ds.

why force due to shear stress is not there F= taw * surface area
@MechTechSimulations
@MechTechSimulations 5 жыл бұрын
We are not dealing with shear stress. We consider only force due to pressure and gravity.
