Bought one two weeks ago and it's truly a great grinder. Dialing in the grindsetting is super precise, the smallest of adjustments make a difference. Now it is set approximately a little below three which gives me 18gr of coffee in 14s. Coffee tastes more full and a touch sweeter than the same beans with my previous grinder.

Bought one on your recommendation. Was planning to buy a Niche but this saved me nearly $500 and seems better built. I Mostly single dose and it’s pretty much zero retention. The timing function is ok but has to be dialled in. It’s good for my wife who doesn’t like to mess around with scales or single dose. It’s a bit annoying to change grind settings between espresso and pourover but that’s my only criticism. It doesn’t really come across on camera how well built this is. The steel and powder coating is very well done. Reminds me of a Swiss watch or German car interior.

Great review of a very good grinder. I recently purchased this model and use it as a single doser for espresso. I find it much easier to weigh the beans in, than to use the timer to time a dose. As Josh says if you change the grind setting that affects the time and it is really too fiddly to use it this way when I am changing my beans every couple of days. The one small negative is the quality of the porta filter holder which I think is decidedly second rate.

I was going to purchase one of these from Alternative Brewing but was put off by the warranty conditions. - I asked about warranty and was told that they are subject to a 12 month return to base parts, no labour warranty - It otherwise looks like a fabulous grinder.
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there ! unfortunately this would be the case with most retailers of the Eureka Grinder. Have you had issues in the past with Product warranties that causes fair concern? There's not much in the way of extended warranties or further inclusions over and above - if the Grinder is faulty, breaks or malfunctions in the 12 month period. If it is of any consolation - a Eureka Grinder would be the ideal grinder to purchase as it comes highly regarded as a robust, commercial grade grinder for home use. The only plastic used is in non-structural parts like the Hopper, its lid and the cover to the top of the grinder. Otherwise - everything else is of very high manufacturing craftsmanship for the purchasing price. If there's anything I can help with, let me know

@@AlternativeBrewing I see one seller is offering 2 years on eBay and they say they cover parts and labour (I asked). Another offer 12 months on parts and labour. I've never bought anything new within Australia, namely kettle, toaster, washing machine that doesn't stand a minimum of 12 months on parts and labour. I'm not trying to bag you here as I know you have a good reputation, just speaking from personal experience. I'm also a retired tv, vcr tech and I know things go wrong!! They either work for 5 minutes or 5 years.

bonjour et pour toutes ces videos. I'm really hesitating between the Eureka Turbo and the Eureka Specialita. There's a price difference that I could afford if I were convinced that the quality of the coffee tasted would be better (the grinding speed isn't important, only the taste). What do you think: in other words, is the taste of the coffee for the same coffee, for the same espresso machine etc.) better when the beans are ground with the Turbo than with the Specialita? Can you taste the difference? Thanks for your help, or that of anyone else who's been able to compare!

Thanks for the video. I own the Specialita for about 8 months now. I started noticing problems with it when I opened it to clean it. First I thought it was the misalignment and I fixed it but even now, I can only get my 20-25 second extraction when the burrs are touching each other. No one talked about this on KZbin and I don't know if that's normal or not. Where do you get your sweet spot? The local dealer won't look at it as long as it's still grinding and running. So that's useless.
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 3 жыл бұрын
Interesting ... I would suggest ensuring the burrs are 100% seated correctly, and perhaps the fix to the misalignment may be sacrificing this extra grinding range. The Specialita, should be able to grind until it is choking and will easily choke up an espresso machine. New burrs could help but I do doubt you've had it that long that it requires them. Adjusting the burrs finer and finer does require you to have the motor spinning whilst you adjust it finer. ... otherwise your have beans stuck between the burrs cancelling out any adjustment you may have made... You could perhaps try single dosing and whilst incrementally grinding finer and finer and you may find this helps get back to the super fine range for espresso brewing around the 27-30seconds mark.

Thanks for the review. What’s the piece of plastic that you can move left and right in the bottom part of the hopper for?
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 2 жыл бұрын
This is to close the hopper chute and be able to remove the hopper without creating a mess. Keeping beans in there or transferring them in to a bag. Some Grinder do not have this - but it's always a bonus when they do.
@damianmb5

@@AlternativeBrewing thanks for the explanation. Did you find a difference in basket weight depending on how full the hopper is ? It seems when is near empty the output is less.
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 2 жыл бұрын
@@damianmb5 100% that's true. And true in every case of using hoppers. It's best to have your hopper 50-100% full all the time in order to have the pressure of the beans against the burrs even. If it goes below 50%, than you'll discover less consistency with your grind and timed dosing.

I find it dificult to go from Espresso to Filter settings... what do you do to calibrate your grinds for different situatuons? How can I measure what i need for Filter and espresso without eyeballing and waisting coffe for grinding...
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 3 жыл бұрын
With new coffees and altering brew methods - you'll always have a period of dialling in the coffee the way you like it. By this it's simply do you enjoy the flavour coffee you brewed or not.So I'm calibrating from preferred taste. If I felt it needed to be a stronger brew, I could grind finer, drop the dose or increase contact time (& or all three) or if it were too strong - you could decrease the dose, decrease the contact time and dilute with hot water post brew. To measure, it will come from comparing results already attained. I suggest you record the dose, grind setting and brew time of your first few brews (either espresso or filter) and that way you can analyse the brew and make a change gradually towards the right direction of coarse or fine grinds or any of the other parameters that can manipulate the extraction of the coffee to your preferred strength. The grinding for filter will depend on what brew method you're referring to as well. In general V60 and Aeropress may be on the finer side of filter, whereas Chemex or some thicker paper filters use coarser grind sizes... based on slower extraction times using thicker paper filters.

Hi Dani, you'll need to grind out and change the grind setting at the same time (if you're going from Coarser to Finer) - you may have to waste some beans in the process - but you'll be able to get a fine grind out, so long as you do this. Essentially, start grinding and turn it all the way fine and it stop coming out, begin to adjust coarser until the grinds exit the shoot again and that's pretty much the finest there will be.

@@Tengokuq This is my guess: when the grinder is on and you dial down (to finer grind) there will be a point just before the burrs won’t turn, that there is a high-pitched sound, like metal-on-metal. To keep from wearing down the burrs, I make a note of where that is on the dial. And a tip: make sure to dial-down with the grinder on or empty. My Specialita gets cranky when it is dialed-down while off and there are beans between the burrs. Good luck!

How is it right to set the grinding consistency (fine or courser). While the engine is running (with or without coffee in the hopper) or while the engine is stopped? Thanks
@AlternativeBrewing

better with the engine running -when you're moving from Coarser to Finer - as if it is stopped - then you're literally trying to crush beans between the burrs whilst change the grind. Or Yes - you can have - not only the hopper empty but you'd want to make sure there's no beans in between the burrs before changing. Going from Finer to coarser is not as much an issue 👍
