New viewer and sub'd. I recently ordered an un-issued TCOP. Not a stealth camper but wanted a tent that wasn't mountaineering orange. When I was in the Marines, we had shelter halves! I intend to mark the "shorter" pole. Next, set it up in the yard and check the seams. Straight forward review. Really looking forward to using this tent. Impressed with your video library.

Just stumbled across your channel. Probably too late to enter contest....But....Tent, combat, one person. You say it is heavy but don't remember you stating it is a FOUR SEASON TENT. This will take quite a snow load, too! You can get lighter tents but where will you be in 8 inches of heavy, wet snow??? You may not need a four season tent but that is why it weights what it does. Battle proven and you can hand it down to your grand kids,,,,,,not jut your own children. Who wants ultra light at -5 degrees F. and snowing with wind. You have to know what you want and what you really need. Looking fwd to seeing you vids. Nice job.Not may vids on tcop. Thanks

Hi, I have the same tent. I actually set it up for the first time this past weekend even though I bought it over 3 yrs ago. Thanks for mentioning the one pole is a few mils shorter than the other two. I had a heck of a time getting the pole in the fly. Was about to give up and thought I had a faulty tent. I really like the tent, but as you said, it's probably too heavy for backpacking. I like the woodland camo, I couldn't find a tent comparable to size and quality and in woodland camo. Thanks for the video. Take care.

It’s actually called the tent, combat, one person..but close enough! I got one a few months ago new on amazon..haven’t had a chance to use it yet but really looking forward to testing it out. I love the heavy duty construction, woodland camo pattern, (I prefer it to multicam), blackout material and that you can use a light inside it without it being seen from outside like other tents...fantastic features that makes it to me the ultimate stealth camping tent.. I didn’t realise one pole was shorter which was a handy tip...thanks for the review, and happy stealth camping!
@bravogolfoscar4 жыл бұрын
Hi Simon, you are correct! I with the acronym!!!! When checking the poles you need to be Eagle eyed as there is not much difference in in a few mm at best. What is different about the TCOP (Tent Combat One Person) and the ICS (improved combat shelter)?
@bravogolfoscar4 жыл бұрын
Firstly Gene thanks for watching and commenting, its much appreciated. I dont own an ICS so I can only go of pictures ive seen. The main difference I can see is that the TCOP fly seems to cover all of the inner where the ICS seems to leave the front more open. The TCOP is a fully enclosed inner (no mesh) where the ICS seems to have a mesh inner from the pics ive seen, however I could be wrong. In short the TCOP is a full dome fly where as the ICS appears to be a half dome. Atb G 🐾

A have a couple of them and the poles are the same length. What does help in getting the pole secured in the rain fly us to unzip the the two entrance flaps then place the end of the pole in the grommet. Also remember to thread the pole through the cloth loop at the top if the rain fly. When staking the fly down do so with the two flaps closed so when you need to zip all the way up you can.
@bravogolfoscar4 жыл бұрын
Thats great advise thankyou Atb G🐾
@DrsharpRothstein4 жыл бұрын
I love that tent. My only concern is if I ever have to hold up a day or so inside because of impossible wether. It is not tall enough to sit in. Do a search for TCOPWhitepaper.pdf for an excellent testimony of its ability to weather storms. See the section titled "Field notes: From the desk of Construction Electrician 1st Class Maxon". Note: to help with condensation guy out the center of the ends and don't fully zip up the inner doors leave to tops down 2 to 4 inches.

Being in military, have the ugly ACU version of this tent, mad eby different manufacturer. Works well, was at the surplus store today and just happened to find this version of the tent for $35 US. damn sure snapped it up for personal use. Rolled it out in the store to make sure everything was there and looked it was brand new and never used, no dirt on the stakes. Didn't know about the one pole slightly shorter than the others for the fly until this video. Thanks for that tid bit. Was just curious as to what others thought about it as to why I come across your video.
@bravogolfoscar3 жыл бұрын
Wow! What a bargain 👌 the difference in pole length is so small that I had to set the poles up and lay them out together. You may not have an issue getting the pole seated into each end of the fly, but if you do it's worth checking. Having both doors open on the fly makes it easier as well. Thanks for watching Atb G🐾
@claa30094 жыл бұрын
With the rain fly on and the doors zipped closed, doesn't seem to be much air flow/ventilation. Interior condensation would also seem to be an issue. With little ventilation, after a couple of hours in the tent, I'd think it could be very humid, warm, and stuffy. Also, as the sun came up in the morning hours, you may not be aware of daylight due to the blackout nature of the tent material. Those would be issues for me.
@bravogolfoscar4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks gorgeous taking for takingthe time to watch and comment! As yet I have yet to experience any condensation on the the inside of the fly which is surprising, you correct that in the summer this tent is hot but you could just pitch the inner or alternatively the outer on its own. In the winter it does keep you nice and warm. This does does not let any light in so as you state in your comment you wouldn't know what time of day it is. Its a great tent for certain situations. As a military tent I can see the benefits, however it had its place but in some cases I would pick other tents over this. Atb G🐾

Hi G, I've just purchased one on your review. It's unused surplus made in the USA. All the poles I have look the same length, how many millimetres are we talking about? You implied if another pole is used it's a pain, however it still maybe possible to complete the task. Is that correct? Atb Taff 🤠
@bravogolfoscar4 жыл бұрын
Hi Taff, if you have a later one then they may have addressed the pole issue so you may have no issues. However if you do here are a couple of things you can do. 1. Extend all three poles and then line them up side by side with one end pushed up a against a solid surface (like a door) then at the other see if one pole is ever so slightly shorter (we're talking a couple of mm) if it is use that pole for the fly sheet. 2. When putting the pole through the fly sheet open up both zips first as this will make it easier. Let me know how you get on. I now have a website and blog so you can contact me direct through that www.biggrizzlyoutdoors.com Atb G 🐾
