You are the best mad scientist EVER!!! As I watched, you answered every question that popped into my head. You compared and contrasted these in a way that I would do if I were doing this in my own garage. Thanks for being so thoughtful and thorough in your approach. I'm going with the GE uncovered in the candles of my outdoor light fixtures. This was incredibly helpful. Thank you! Subscribed!

Oh what a day and time to be alive! 😂Seriously though, these look great and I am definitely using these on my outside lights. We have the classic faux gaslight fixtures, and this would really go well. Get that New Orleans vibe going. Thanks for the share!

I’m pretty sure if you use a diffuser over the LED flicker, flame bulbs, dinner, candelabra, not the neon one, but the two LED flicker flame ones on the left I think those two did a better job making it look like a real flame inside of a diffuse surface
@redstonecommander5190 Жыл бұрын
Kronos I think I like the one orange glow of the flicker flame ones. It doesn’t matter if it matches the real flame I think I like those cool ones no other flicker flame bulb can ever match the true beauty of a neon flicker flame

No.1 is the best I have ever seen so far. The only drawback are the 3 edges they don't emit light and causes shadows. They should put a row of LED on the edges to reduce this shadows but I'm not sure how this would look like in operation. Maybe then some other issues could accour if you consider the lamp from a specific angle. However, I will give a try to this one. Have you a suggestion to get them for a good price?

@@dspiffy Thx. Your tests are great but if I may suggest one point. When you put this milky glas over the lamps just let them a little bit longer when you recording them. So someone can have an better impression by observing it a little bit longer. Have a good time my friend and stay healthy!

Dan - Thank you for this video! I had someone create stained glass fireplace panes for my player piano. The panes have an E12 base behind them. The incandescent flicker flame bulbs (#3) l have are ineffective! What would you suggest to "light up" the stained glass flames?

It will probably take some trial and error but I would try this one for sure.

Excellent methodology in your comparative demonstration, thank you. I think the one on far left is most realistic. Can you tell me approximately how bright it is in wattage and what size fixture it fits? I'm looking for something in the 25w range. Thanks again
@dspiffy Жыл бұрын
Oh man that's really hard to qualify because it's not a steady glow. 25w might be close. It should fit anywhere a flame shaped candelabra bulb fits.
@morningstar9233 Жыл бұрын
@@dspiffyYeah, I see your point. Only learned of these bulbs yesterday and as you know there's a lot of models available. So your demonstration was really helpful. Will be looking for something like the one on the far left. Have a good one my friend.

I dont think they will last long getting wet, but I use them in my outdoor fixtures as long as they are covered.

Why not do a fast shutter test to see which ones flicker the worst? (not the intentional flame-like flickering, but the headache causing fast flickering)

@@dspiffy what does framerate have to do with it? just increase the shutter speed on your camera until they start to flicker (except for the good lights, which won't flicker no matter how fast you put your shutter speed)

The Euri looks great in daylight on video. Price is ridiculous though, at $16 to $20. I'm looking to pay more in the $6 range. Although most people use these to flank their garage, maybe only for holidays, or as a porch light, I like my flame effect bulb for firelight ambience in the room, and a as nightlight, great with a little Google Home fireplace sound. I have two different ones, and the first one I got felt like it was short circuiting or with a bad connection, the flicker was so fast. It's nice to look at though, if you used it in a lamp post outdoors. I don't care whether they look like a flame or not, because who is going to stare at one of these anyway. However, as I mentioned, the flickering in the room is what adds life to a dark room, and that's what I like. Anyway, the ones I like, because of the very realistic slow flicker firelight ambience in a dark room, are the ones made by Texsens. Problem is, I had two and using them just one at a time, they both blew in about 3 years of pretty heavy use. I may just stick with the color change lights I'm using now, but if anyone knows of a brand that lasts long, and creates a soothing flickering ambience, and is around $6, please tell me the brand. I might try the GE one. I'll have to watch your video on it.
