In the last few friendlies, England have completely lacked any creativity when Trent wasn’t playing. All they did was pass back and forth or backwards. Him and Eze were the only 2 doing anything in that first half against Bosnia. I understand what people are saying against “bigger teams” but against a team like Serbia, he’ll have time on the ball and they play a back 5. He is a must. That RHS with Saka and him linking up can be so special. I think him, Jude and Rice can have a great partnership esp because him and Jude are so close so they have a good connection which I’m sure will translate on the field. They haven’t actually played together I don’t think so I’m really interested to see their link up.

I love Terry Pratchett so much and am delighted by Rory Smith's adding Discworld to this podcast's lore.

Statistically it shouldn't be a million to one that a football fan should also be a Discworld reader, nonetheless, I was pleasantly surprised that STP got a shout out. There must be dozens of us! Dozens!

Kane is a watered down version of Wayne Rooney which is saying very little considering how bad Rooney was in major tournaments

Group B has one of the weakest teams in Albania, a much declining Croatia, a spotty at best Italy and an only resurgent Spain. How are they the "group of death"? Group D has (according to the table in the front) an expected 1.6 teams in the QF (and when you consider how a group competes mostly against itself, that's pretty huge). France is pretty much co-favourite, the Netherlands are still very capable of delivering (see last WC), Poland also did well in the WC and Austria has been thrown around a lot as the Dark Horse of the tournament.

Zero ball knowledge. Besides Modrić, Brozović and Perišić the other 8 players are different. Stanišić who won with Leverkusen the double, Pašalić who won the Europa league, Kramarić who scored 15 goals in the Bundeliga, Petković who cored 18 for Dinamo, 17 for Budimir in La Liga. You have Majer, Vlašić, Ivanušec who have been staples for Croatia for years. This is just not researching or not giving a shit

@@rakim126 You think a country like England has the luxury of that? 😆 Media and punditry in this country will always talk and make noise before and during tournaments because it makes business sense for them to do this. They know they'll have critics at home and abroad rushing into their comment sections clicking and engaging and making them £££. Meanwhile Croatia can make the final in 2018 and 3rd place in 2022 and still be seen as a 'surprise package'.

@ClarkeyJay I agree with the first comment and I think you do too that everyone is guilty of underestimating and not researching the Croatian team.

Italy are Euro Champions, not in transition, with 9 players from that win in 2021 … England is in a 58 year old transition. The cf Immobile did not score so many goals in 2021 and they won, so the point on Scamacca does not make sense.

No fanbase overrates their own players more than the English, although the US is coming close. They've made 0 Finals unless they've been hosts, and only 3 SFs in 35 such tournaments (8.6%) for a reason, never learn 😂

England also only won the WC with some heavy, borderline illegal home field advantage. It may not have been Italy '34, but it was worse than other outrageous affairs like South Korea '02. So no, it's not crazy. It's just that they aren't as good as they think and never have been.

France will destroy England again this time in the semis as they coast to an easy Eurocup final win, in 13 years France is unbeaten in major tournaments on the field outside of penalty kicks, England fans are dreaming if they think they can beat France, in the last World Cup with France missing half their starters they still crushed England with two perfect clinical goals while England didn’t even score one actual goal. The French front will feast on the weak English defense again, France is unbeatable with kante in the lineup

I like your views on football... but your politicizing of countries like Hungary just shows how blinded you are by the propaganda,. Fascism is the collusion of government and corporations.... and that's the opposite of what Orban and other so-called 'fascist' states are doing. You are the cancel culture, the 'othering' tribe... Hungary is just a football team. Get over it.
