Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of Aiways U5 2019

Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
- a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid barrier
- an offset frontal impact test, 40% of the width of the car is striking a deformable barrier
- a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole
- a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking systems (car to car, with a pedestrian and a cyclist target), lane support and speed assist technologies and seatbelt reminders.

The brand started in February 2017, only less than 3 years old, I'd say there is definitely for improvement but not bad for a brand new start up company. Not to mention their first car was announced only a year ago in November 2018.

The stability of the chassis seem to be good, maybe they measured higher forces than usual in some tests. The results are not the best, but there is room for improvements, as long as the chassis itself isn't the problem.

​@@aljowen I've noticed that seat belt pretensioners were deployed in any of the side impacts. Which is weird as I think they alway deploy the seat belt pretensioners in most cars in side impacts. I think this could contribute to poor side impact ratings.

If you buy a 10 year old car with 5 stars. This can be worse than a new 3 stars car. Every year the stars get devaluated. Always connect the star rating with the year of testing. What car do you drive now and how old is it? It may be that this car is safer than the car you are driving NOW.

Pole impact test is NOT Acceptable, too much cabin Pennitration. side & front Impact is good. however LOW performance of Pedestrian Avoidance with Obscured Pedestrian. and LOW performance with Pedsetrian over 60 km/hr . in all Pretty impressive for a Chinese car but need to Focus on BEST safety First, then work on vehicle Performance.
