Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of Honda HR-V 2022

Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
- a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
- a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
- a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
- a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

Ncap in my opinion is behind. IIHS tests are harder to pass. Ncap still doesn’t do the small overlap crash test. So I am curious if car manufacturers have not added the extra safety for cars sold in Europe as they don’t test for it

Unlike Dacia who don't care what rating they get as long as their cars are cheap, Honda will surely be mortified to get a four-star rating for this new car. I expect an update soon.

@The Yawning Chihuahua just went to look at the HRV in Australia and it only has 4 seats instead of 5. They removed the seat belt for the middle seat bc it wasn’t put to Australian standard or something like that

When the US spec HR-V arrives in Europe under a different name, I can’t wait to see what score it will get from Euro NCAP. Note that the HR-V sold in the US is completely different from the HR-V sold in Europe.

The 4-star rating is rather disappointing, but I guess I can live with it. I wanna buy it, because It's a well-made car that won't break the bank, with a relatively high-quality interior, low fuel consumption, and large rear leg space, and I reckon it is quite reliable, given it's a Honda. The trunk space is a bit small, but nothing can be perfect and the Magic seat thing lays completely flat if I need more space.
