I would not recommend having a split shot above the 2 flies. When you add weight above your flies you will lose strike detection. You can catch fish that way but it’s not the most effective

Great comment, I agree completely. I about never use split when euro nymphing. For the reason you mention and why waste a hookless weight when what could be your weight is also a fly. When euro nymphing I have tungsten weighted point flies usually from 2.8 -4.6 slotted.
