EURO Spec VW Corrado Differences

I’ve a Lithuania corrado - 1989 production number in the 5000’s registered (14/feb/89) someone got a fantastic valentines car. “Rare” features was no sunroof, and no side repeaters in the wings from the factory. It also came with a 1.8 8v EV code engine . Heated seats and the wiring to the headlights was really heavy duty wiring . The accounts at vw clearly realised we can save money by making the wiring gauge thinner , who cars if the lights become dimmer no one test drives these cars at night 😅

Fog light switch on 93, 94 and 95, has the button for rear. I'm pretty sure the rear outer lights are also different. If you have both side by side you can see it. Also the dashboard itself is different on passenger side where it meets the under dash tray. US is cut for knee bar.

Fender indicators are present on euro specs only on facelift model of the Corrado, pre-facelift cars didn't had it.

@@RadoMatt yep, also fun fact is that euro specs vr6 were 2.9 litre and US models were 2.8 only as far as I know from sources I've read. There is also difference in the speed when the rear spoiler opens and closes. I've read somewhere that out of 97.5K cars produced 50k were for US market.

The 16v from Europe has the vr6 front end

-Different spoiler activation speeds. -Engine displacement (on VR6) -Intake manifold design (on VR6) -First aid kit I think is in most European cars (maybe just Germany?) -Front bumper spoiler size

Good points! I can't believe we forgot about the engine differences lol. His car has a 3.6 VR6 in though so no 2.9. I didn't know about the spoiler, that is really interesting!!

@@RadoMatt I cant believe you guys for got about the 90mm front lip. You also forgot that US Spec cars have "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" in the passenger side view mirror glass and the euro cars do not.

Defiantly didn't get those door seals in the UK, wonder why they were added? Did you guys get all the engine variants in the US? UK got the 1.8 16v, 2.0 8v, 2.0 16v, 2.9 VR6 and the G60. Had a few over the years, all with the seat hump in the rear, all with electric windows, but did have one with no sunroof which seems to be rare. Dearly miss my old VR6

We should have mentioned engine options. All we got was the G60 and 2.8 VR6.

Didn’t the eu vr6 cars get 2.9 190hp while the American cars got 2.8 and 10 less hp (180)

Euro corrado had rear seat bump in the middle, emergency kit was hidden there. 4 person car.

Irish uk. Cars we didn’t have the seal on the outside of the door framed . That’s something new I haven’t seen before . Must be a USA thing only Only 93 cars came with out the rear seat bump Every EU corrado I’ve had, non had headlight adjusting lights . Something new also, the switch is just a blank or reminder to put petrol into the car and not diesel No id on dash board in Ireland uk . Only on the rain tray Can I have your third brake light ? So I can put it onto a Irish car

The rubber seal is only US. No sunroof was a option (rare). 95 canadian has airbags. Euro 88-92 fase I (prefacelift) (us know as G60) 92-95 Fase II (facelift) (us only vr6). In Euro fase II you have 3 engines 2.0 16v, 2.0 8v and the VR6. You could also have a model between it with a fase I interieur and a fase II exterieur. Also the G60 has a bump in the bonnet that goes down and the Vr6 a bump going up. In the Uk you have a limited edition known as the “Storm”. The rear taillights has on the us version on the side a reflector in it. Euro spec doesnt. On the G60 (fase I) the door handle key hole is flat and the vr6 (fase II) has a little lip on it.

@ great info but sometimes I wonder … if I know all these spec facts .., what info has been pushed out of my head that I’ve now forgotten 😅 all those useless dates in history from school. Well I guess WW1 just started a really really long time ago 😂
