This goalie is a local legend tho, he used to be on heavy drugs until late 20's or so, then he decided to be a goalkeeper, wasn't really that bad either, just had some... moments :D Been a while since this game but congrats to the Irish, Partizan are doing better since maybe this was needed.

@Primordialfan1 The keeper's right hand makes contact with Sheppard's left leg at 3:36. Whether Sheppard made the most of it or not, the keeper could have no excuses. It's the sort of shrewdness that Irish sides have so often fallen victim to down through the years when up against teams with more savvy as to the ways of European football and it's also why there's so little protest from the Partizan players. About time an Irish side got the rub of the green.

There was contact by the keeper's right hand without doubt, but making the most of 50-50 situations like that is something that Irish clubs have been naïve about in the past. Unfortunately, it's the type of shrewdness and cunning that is required to progress in the game today.

the miracle of belgrade, but thompson really shoulda saved that corner. great shot stopper though and a good character. sullivan's goal was the best i've ever seen. world class.

@cm999 It's an indictment of refereeing and UEFA/FIFA who have neglected to wipe simulation out rather than Karl Sheppard for going down. Just think of 'Henrygate'; any Irish player interviewed that night admitted he would have done the same thing as Henry if they thought they'd have gotten away with it. Any Partizan player in Sheppard's situation would have gone down likewise. And, c'mon, can we really say Partizan were shining beacons of all that is right in the game anyway?...

@ketoras Sorry but it was a penalty, there was no reaction from the keeper at all which says it all. And regarding the volley, doesnt every volley require some sort of luck? It would've been far easier to just take a touch and swing back in but no he believed he could make a decent shot out of it and he did. Fair play to him I say.

@codowd93 Contact was made and he made the most of it. Its had a bad impact on the game, players going down easy, the Spanish league is a clear example of that. But its the way the game is played these days unfortunately.

@codowd93 Well, he later claimed to have been "twaped", although I'm not even sure I believe that, ha. Either way, he was touched and made the most of it, as any shrewd footballer in the situation would have done. C'est la vie. Refereeing and UEFA are at the root of the problem so long as they appear content to tolerate simulation.

I have a feeling the Partizan supports here are a bit mad. And thats ok. I would be mad too if my team had just been utterly destroyed by an Shamrock Rovers side that were on fire and 100% deserved the win. Partizan were no match for them. The volley, supreme.
