In this Carrie guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play this smash hit by Europe note-for-note.
The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.
There are parts of "Carrie" that are completely keyboard based. That includes the includes the intro and verse sections. For those sections, I have created a guitar arrangement of those keyboard parts so that you can play the entire song on guitar.
For the pre-chorus and chorus sections, guitarist John Norum plays some simple power chord shapes to give it that true power ballad feel.
The real fun begins when we get to John's killer guitar solo. I will take you through this beautiful solo note-for-note.

Awesome rendition and transposing of keyboard to guitar Carl. John Norum was quite an accomplished guitarist. I was a closet Europe fan back in the day, wouldn't have admitted it when I was thrashing around to the Thrash bands of the 80's. Keep them coming Carl, love your work🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

This is by far my favorite 80s ballad, also I'm not sure if I am suffering from some sort of KZbin Mandela effect but didn't Carl do a lesson on no More tears by Ozzy osbourne, I know there is the famous riff lesson where he teaches this solo but I could have swore he did a lesson on the rhythm parts as well.

Thanks for all you do. There is a song called "When I Was Young" by Lucero. They do an electric album version and an acoustic version. I've got the first part of the song down for the most part, but when the piano comes in, I lose the rhythm of the guitar and can't decipher the notes. The acoustic version is the best, but again, as soon as that piano kicks in, I lose the notes and the picking pattern. Is there any chance you can have a listen and maybe post a video?

Isolation is what you are looking for. Both of yourself and of the line you want to play. Sit with your instrument and focus just on YOUR LINE. THINK ONLY OF THAT PERCUSSIVE HITS THAT YOU NEED TO MAINTAIN THE MELODY. It is so easy to get swept up by the beauty of a good melody, but every player has 1 job to create the wall you can lean on...
