You do your tax refund at your last exit out of Europe and pay customs when you get back to the US (or wherever your home country is)

I’m planning a trip to London & Paris. London via flight and taking the Eurostar into Paris. How would I go about my VAT from the Paris trip since I’d be leaving to my home country from London and I’m leaving Paris by train? Thank youu. I’m so excited to shop some new hand bags too!

Research VAT refund stations at the train station you’re leaving from! For example Global Blue’s website has a list of all tax refund stations in Paris, including the one at the train station. Double check the hours and if they’re still open - if so there shouldn’t be a reason why you can’t do a refund there. Enjoy your trip!

It depends on the situation as some countries have different rules (if you’re purchasing in multiple countries) or if you need to send info such as your credit card info for your refund. Do you know if tax refund kiosk at CDG airport is open 24/7 ? My flight is at 7am and will be at airport by 4:00 am

I don’t know about the exact hours, but if you Google CDG tax refunds you’ll be able to see the hours! They’re usually open early enough for the first few international flights

I went to Spain in November of 2022 and bought my wife a Gucci luxury bag. We went through Barcelona DIVA system and received the green check mark. 6 months later and still no refund. Do you know what I may have done wrong?

Hi, if you receive the green check mark then that means you didn’t need to do anything additional such as take it to the customs officer. Do you have the initial form on you and did you double check that you selected credit card refund (not cash at the terminal)? If you did my guess is that you information on the form was incorrect. I’m assuming Gucci uses a large provider so I would reach out to their customer service and have them manually release the refund - I have done this before with Planet Tax Free and got my refund after an additional 4-6 weeks. Hopefully that resolves the issue!

@@HelloLuxe I found out that my item's refund is through Planet Tax Free. When I went on the website to inquire about the funds I was informed that I must mail in the paperwork with a customs stamp. Since I was given the green checkmark I never got the paperwork stamped and now it's impossible. How did you get them to manually release the funds? Is there an email address that I can reach out to? I filled out the website form and was given a generic email response.

@@shinjigami2269 hi, I submitted a quote on their website and it probably took them a week to respond. They could verify based on my VAT claim number that I submitted my forms at the airport via the Diva machine and asked me to provide my credit card details. It then took another 2-3 weeks before I saw it on my bank statement. I’m not sure if because it was a smaller purchase (100€) they were able to do this for me online vs a bigger purchase like yours

@@shinjigami2269 it might also be that since it’s been six months they can no longer see your form in the system and therefore need to mail it in physically. I’m not sure what the best resolution would be but hopefully you’ll be able to work something out!

They use global blue - did you scan the form at the airport and get a green check? If you haven’t already I would recommend downloading the global blue app and creating an account to track your purchase and to input any payment details if that’s what’s missing

I think this is why getting cash is better. You lose a few percent in the exchange and fees but at least you are not waiting for a maybe refund
