The architecture in the old town of Plovdiv is actually Bulgarian Revival Period Architecture. What is specific is that the second of third floors of the buildings are wider then the first floor. The ottomans would collect taxes based on the size of the first floor. So, the bulgarian would build small first floor and wider upper floors. Then don't like paying taxes :))).

@@andromeda-p8b materials obviously vary location to location but what we call "Revival Period Architecture" is just plain ottoman houses. you can go see them in Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Macedonia and so on where the ottomans occupied for a long time. its called Ottoman vernacular architecture and its is something that you will not find in Southern regions, and most of the islands in Greece for example, as ottoman architecture in these parts, not only lasted for a much shorter time than in northern Greece and South Balkans, but also it has gone since long time ago. It's like claiming that Turkish words assimilated and changed that are used in Bulgarian today are of Bulgarian origin...

@@stasianatanasov6294 Ottoman rule lasted long enough in the Middle East or Western Balkans, you can't find this style there. This style is found only on the Balkans and manly in regions where bulgarians lived. You are inventing some new history. It is stupid. Philippopolis is actially named after Philip the father of Alexander the Great. But before the Greek epoch it had been part of one the ancient Tracian kingdom of the Odrissi. The earliest settelment dates from 5-6000 years BC. So we're talking thousands of years not hundreds. Glad you enjoyed our fantastic city of Plovdiv.

Hey this is a random question, but I am wondering if there is anything you had to do to get into Bulgaria with your drone. Was it as simple as flying into Bulgaria with one? Or did you have to register with some authority? Curious because I plan to travel to Bulgaria and want to take my drone. Thanks for your help and great video😁

Plovdiv is known as the city of seven hills, yes and there used to be seven hills. There are a total of 6 hills nowadays, because during the communist regime (1945-1989) the 7th hill (Markovo tepe) was mined for stone to make the city's cobblestoned streets (as far as I know, it happened before I was born). The Markovo tepe hill was located in the central part of the city where today there is a shopping mall bearing the same name.

There is no ottoman architecture style....bulgaria used the byzantene style and later the turks also adopted it thats why some buildings in bulgaria look similar to one in turkey.....also all of europe learn from the byzantenes, cause the renesance actually started from the balkans and from the byzantene empire, after the turks conquered it ,some people migrate to the west and thats how the knolidge was transfered....back than constantinopol was the centre of the world

FYI, the oldest city in Europe and one of the oldest in the world is Argos in Greece, which has been inhabited for the past 7000 years.

That is disputed. Recorded history for Argos started in 2nd millennium BC. So it's not possible to confirm that Argos is 7000 years old. But the history of Plovdiv is recorded and it is confirmed that it's 6000 years old.
