Rick is one of a kind- he's not your typical tour guide or travel writer- he has such a joy and enthusiasm for Europe and travel - that goes beyond the learning about the places and history- he loves life and respects the people so much in each of these countries. He is like a coach- wanting to inspire travelers to be bold, and curious in these countries- and most of all, respectful of the people who live there.

I love Rick’s idea of just two bags for travel: the “packing light main bag” gets me where I’m going, to hit the ground running. The minimal day bag gets me admission through Back Doors. Keep on traveling! 😎👍

Living in Europe ( Switzerland now and before in Holland ) and going to retire in 4 years. In this depressing Corona year I found Rick's channel so attractive with so much good information about Europe. Many things I didn't know.. He is an inspiring man! And what is a better thing to do during lock down months to dream an make plans about travelling for the years to come. We saved a good amount during many years just for that. And as soon as I stop working, we are going to travel on our continent for 3-6 months every year. Many new ideas come up thanks to Rick I have seen (naturally) a lot of Europe, but the problem for the working class: you only have 1 or 2 weeks and travelling becomes hurrying. I am looking forward to a time when we can slow the speed of travel. See more and take more time for every region. And also we will visit the US again, we have friends living in North Carolina. I have only been to Seattle and Las Vegas for work purposes and there is much more to see in this huge country. Stay healthy and save and welcome in Europe everybody!

I've been to Saltzburg many years ago and took the Sound of Music tour and loved it and as I got off the bus and went into the square a large crowd was gathering and I asked about it and they said that there was a FREE Stevie Wonder concert that night. If I hadn't taken the Sound of Music Tour, I wouldn't have known!

We went to Italy twice, for three weeks each time, with nothing more than a carry-on and a «personal item», aka even smaller bag. Our first trip, carry-ons were limited to 11 lbs! We made it. And we made it a point NOT to stay in the hyper-touristic places. No Rome, no Pisa, no Florence. We visited Venice on a day trip, and we stayed in Milan at some point. This is the most touristic stuff we did, and we enjoyed every bit of it.

Hello Rick, are you ever at home in a place ? Love your Videos, I especially loved that one Video about Iran. You said Iran is Special and I have also thought so, one time I watched a man traveling the bus and Walking the streets of Teheran and it was so interesting, more than anything Professional western movie I have ever seen, the opposite of banal. And because you have an eye for Special People and places, I figure you must be a humble Person and only the humble are the truly great in this world as said in the Holy Bible. greetings from Bavaria

I think part of the reason why many Americans are perhaps rooted to their ethnocentricity, is the fact that travel is not a priority. Travel is a choice, as is doing it smartly. I agree; America encompasses a relatively small segment of the world’s population. The majority of the globe lies beyond the Statue of Liberty. I think it’s important that more Americans take the opportunity to experience that reality, to the hope of betterment for all.

@@ronnie9187 yes there is better preparation but some areas are built on old sag ponds and sandy soil over the ocean the Suiltanahmet area of Istanbul is on solid bedrock but the outlying areas are not
