(That's not entirely immigration, since part of Empire is that people are free to move around in it.) Decades later, in a different economy some European origin French have told the children of those North African workers to "go home". In Catalonia there is Barcelona and its metropolitan area, which is the second urban area in Spain; and as for the Mediterranean coast, there are also highly populated cities (Valencia, Alicante, Palma, Murcia or Málaga) that provide work for immigrants in sectors such as agriculture, construction or the service sector. And also highlight Ceuta and Melilla with a large Moroccan community as they share a border with Morocco.

In Hungary's case you missed a pretty significant number when it comes to immigration (if you add up the numbers you shown in the video it would be 105K or ~1% of the population), and that's the number of ethnic Hungarians from the neighbouring countries (around 400k). As they speak the same language and have exactly the same culture, they mostly aren't really considered immigrants.

And generally speaking immigrants aren't asked to emigrate to a certain country. This can of course happen, but more often people decide to emigrate to another country for a number of reasons. Generally speaking every society sees immigrants as outsiders, some are more tolerant than others however. In Hungary's case ethnic Hungarian immigrants coming from neighbouring countries are more tolerated than other immigrants, especially for historical reasons. This is not unique to Hungary though, for example in Romania the same happens with ethnic Romanian immigrants coming from Republic of Moldova, for historical reasons, too

Although the video talks about the foreign born people, ethnic Hungarians from neighboring countries moving to Hungary are not caught in these statistics, as the vast majority of them already have Hungarian citizenship for years. The Slovaks and Romanians in those statistics are people that moved to Hungary for better wages and they've picked the country due to proximity, as they likely have family just over the border. In regards to the East Asian immigrants, exactly same thing is happening in Romania, just that those immigrants are from Nepal and Bangladesh.

As a Pole I totally diagree with our numbers at just 1.7% ( I know that you were looking for official and reliable data ) . More like 8-10% . We have got like around 1.5 mil. of Ukrainians (counted as refugees now though many of them before the war were also working here before the war ) .The charateristics of migration from Ukraine is also that many people go to Poland from there and tons of people also return to Ukraine(either after the year or half or a couple of years ). After 2020 we have got some around 200-300 k Belarussians (due to protest/Lukashenko also bad economics over there ) . Additionally there are some around 150-250 k people from India ,Middle East ,Turkey , Portugal coming more and more every year . Also our census 2021 (GUS) is completely unrealistic and not really that reliable. Suprised also for low value in Russia and France. But I guess France just counts people that were born overseas ,not with migration backround like in Germany and many other Western countries. Another reason is proably that France is not as propserous as other Western countries and not really a good labour market for good jobs .

As a Portuguese, the 8% is far from the truth. I'll give you some context. We had an institution called SEF which was our border patrol that was shutdown so illegal immigrants (and even legal to be honest) can come in more easily, there are even tutorials on youtube on how to do this on the Brazilian/South Asian side of the internet for example. Ukranians became the 2nd biggest minority after the war in Ukraine, a lot made their way here. Then we made a pact with CPLP countries (our former African colonies) so that they could come here much more easily, whether it's for work or school. It's basically like the movement between EU countries. We also give nationality very easily. All it takes is 5 years of waiting. Though a lot of them go to other EU countries once they become Portuguese citizens or they would be over 50% by now. It doesn't help that the Portuguese birthrate is very low too. The realistic stat is probably 17~20% if we consider all these factors.

I'm portuguese and you cannot trust portuguese data about immigration AT ALL. We have pretty much open doors for everyone! So, 800.000 are the legal and you have probably 200.000 illegals BUT 1 million that is something amazing that portuguese government created that is called "migrants from PALOP". EU put Portugal in courts because of this, PALOP means people that specks portuguese, essentially many countries in Africa and Brazil. This means they come to Portugal and because no one wants to live here they run away (well, there are no borders anyway) so they go to another European countries like Germany. If they got caught they have portuguese papers, but a few of this "immigrants" killed peopled while in Europe and now that EU knows what is going on so they put Portugal in court. Last month, Socialist government resign because of full corruption and maybe next government will be from the right wing, otherwise I'm glad to leave my own country to the Africans and Brazilians, then they will flood Europe... but I'll be far. I think the numbers for Poland are not quite correct. I guess it shows the legal immigrants with permanent allowance to stay and live. Even before the Russian aggression on Ukraine, there were a lot of Ukrainians and Belarusians. Now there are lots of them. Also, the number of season workers from Asia or Africa has increased.

Poland is a bit weird, as since 2017 Ukrainians are legally allowed to work in Poland without a visa, as long as they stay in Poland for up to 90 days in every 6 months and have biometric passport. Because of this, it's been difficult to ascertan how many of them actually live and work in Poland, but estimates were that around 2 million Ukrainians were in Poland at any given time since the law was passed, mostly doing short-term jobs in construction, agriculture, nanny or carer. Official statistics count work and resident permits only. This of course changed after 2022 and estimates now show 3,5-4 million immigrants living in Poland, which is around 10%.

Most anthropologists say that the first known US inhabitants crossed a land bridge from Russia to Alaska in the North. In the South they believe Polynesian (or others from the same area) people island hopped and/or crossed directly to the US/Central America. Black Americans (not to be confused with African Americans) did not immigrate at all, but were brought involuntarily. Checked government website - latest information is 670 000 temporary residence permit and 340 000 permanent residence permit - 10% of population. There is also difference between arab/muslim immigrants (who go only west and cant integrate) and east Europe immigrants who also go to Czechia for work or run from Ukraine war and integrate.

I mean the picture here was rather clear and Austria being mostly a transit country for people to move to Germany. In 2020 Austria had 2.14million people with an immigration background - that's almost 1/4 of the total population. Almost 40% of those immigrants have roots in other EU or EFTA states. 26% have a Turish background, roughly 6% an Afganian or Syric background mostly moving to Austria since the 2015 Syrian conflict. Note that this number includes people with an official Austrian nationality but background in other countries. I think the statistics counts people who live in Austria within the first three generations of moving to Austria into this category. Germans though make up for the largest group of people living in Austria with officially an other nationality and therefore a passport other than Austria, which accumulate to 10% or ~209.000 people. Plenty of German students move to Austria as for certain studies it is easier to get a spot here compared to Germany and then some just stay here after their studies (with some even stating that the living conditions here are even better and/or fairer compared to their home country). While Austria officially does not allow for dual citizenship, during the last election in Turkey it was apparent that plenty of Austro-Turks still have such a thing which started new discussion on how to treat such citizens and whether it is allowed to revoke Austrian citizenship and thus remove certain perks and benefits officially from such people. Also interesting to know that 40% of all people with an immigration background live in Vienna. Part of that is certainly tied to its former role of the home to the Austrian-Hungarian empire, which included most of the Balkan region area, parts of Czechia and Slovakia and of course Hungary and its parts in Rumania and so forth, and its culture it offers. Vienna is also one of the permanent residences of the U.N. and has several universities that naturally attract students from around Europe and/or the world. Seeing that Vienna regularly ranks among the most liveable cities in the world might also attract more foreign people to move to that city and that's why in 2023 Vienna surpassed the 2 million inhabitant mark. In contrast, the number of native Viennese people who are born and raised in Vienna only account for 17% of the total Viennese population! That is part of why Austria, especially in the past two decades, saw a strong movement to the right on the political spectrum.

As a polish person I always wonder why our government don't try to bring back to Poland all the polish peoples that lives outside Poland. For them, changes of political power in Poland isn't as important as for us. I had an oportunity to talk with some people living abroad for long time and they didn't know much about political details. Some of them really apreciated economic growth that happend in Poland since 1990s. My uncle (cousin of my dad), who moved to West Germany as young man once visited us in Poland and said, that he consider returning to Poland because of situation with migrants from arabic countries. This was of course only some complaining, but if Poland would give some profit for returning people, then who knows? And about government - I personally believe, that we will be missing PiS sooner than we think.

I know some Poles in Germany and they are pretty much German. Many speak better German than Polish. People are moving all the time and bringing their heritage with them. That's a natural thing. It always seems that there are only problems with migration, but it has many good sides. I can get so much different food and culture in Frankfurt (Main), because there a people from all around the world. Most people are decent people, no matter what religion they follow. You just need to talk to them like a normal person would do. Of course their are criminals in every nationality, but criminals are made by poverty, trauma and bad upbringing. As a Brit I have to say that I probably disagree with the part of the data disclaimer at 4:13 as our immigration numbers for 2021 were around 1 million, and for 2022 are estimated at over 1 million so far. So with a population around 70 million, that's about 2.8% of the population that arrived since this data was sourced in 2019, meaning the UK has very likely gone above 15% and shifted up a category to join Germany, Ireland, Sweden etc. God help us.

Is that number only first-degree immigration or does that include all of the people that moved to England, probably within the last 3 generations? I mean, if I look at Austria's statistics dating back to 2020 it states that over 2 million of the close to 9 million people living in Austria at the moment have roots in other countries, with only 40% stemming from the EU or EFTA region. That means almost every 4th human you see has roots not native to Austria (at least within 3 generations). If you look at Turks in particular, every 4th with immigation background has Turkish roots - either still with Turkish citizenship or officially with an Austrian one but a Turkish passport next to it, wich acutally is not permitted by Austrian laws. That got quite apparent during the last Turkish election as plenty of so called Austro-Turks went to vote for "their president" queuing up outside the polling station for everyone to see. Some even bragged about owning a dual citizenship in front of TV cameras and refusing to return the Austrian one as it also means the loss of certain financial benefits. Of course that started discussions on whether it is legally and ethically justifyable to remove the Austrian citizenship and thus a lot of rights and social perks from these people. But as always, political discussions are ... sloooooooooow.

​@@backintimealwyn5736 If you look at the migration statistics report published by the house of commons you can see a graphical summary of migration to and from the U.K. since 1964. On that graph you more or less can see a rise of immigration from roughly 400k yearly immigrants to 600k around 1995 where the E.U. clearly performed some expansion to the east. Around that time Sweden, Finland and Austria joined the E.U. That number was more or less stable during the early 2000 and saw a jump over the 600k mark in roughly 2014. At this time plenty of eastern european countries were already part of the E.U. and Schengen. As I've seen plenty of reports that the U.K. has a strong Polish community, Poland implemented Schengen regulations at the end of 2007. The graph here doesn't really state a significant jump in immigrants over the next following years though. What can be seen though is that around 2019 a new calculation method was applied that according to the description can't be used to directly compare numbers before and after the change of calculation. While numbers seem to go down from 2019 and ongoing, that most likely was caused by COVID regulations and the almost halt in any international (even local) traffic. While before 2019 the rise might be explained by people from the E.U. thinking about moving to the U.K. before Brexit rules then prevent them so and those people finally putting their plans into action, as the U.K. isn't part of the E.U. further since Feb 1st 2020 the skyrocket of immigrants in 2021/22 to 1.2m (with 560k people emigrating) can't be caused by the E.U. I haven't looked into where these people are actually coming from and if that number includes refugees from Ukraine who are probably supposed to return once the war is over. I also don't know how people from the Commonwealth are counted in this statistics. As the U.K. is the country with probably most colonies around the globe, immigration is probably mostly a consequence of that. Just look at France which has plenty of former colonies in Africa and which therefore have a large number of people immigrating to France who originate from i.e. Algir or other former colonies. However, if you compare the number of estimated people with immigration background living in the U.K. then the number is estimated to roughly over 10 milion people. That's almost 15% of the todal population. Just compare that with the number of people with immigration background to other countries, i.e. like Austria which has over 25%. In June 2021 6 million people were living in the U.K. that had a different nationality. That's roughly 9% of the total population and does not include people with dual citizenship. 3.4 out of 6 milion people originated from a E.U. country. Since the 1990 you can also see that he number of people emigrating from the U.K. correlates with the number of people immigrating to the U.K. And while there might be 1.2m people immigrating, the net migration number is "only" around 600k as almost the same number of Brits left the U.K. to live somewhere else.

We in Luxembourg are expected to reach one million people, purely to immigration in 2050, and I as a native Luxembourger don't see how we are going to integrate so many people if we will only make up around 30%. We currently import ~2% of our population every year, because of our economic and pension system, but this needs to change soon because our housing prices are already sky high do to high demand. There are already a lot of Luxembourgers leaving the country because they can't affort a house to support a family, which is a shame and will further drop the number of natives in the country. There needs to be a political shift and economic+pension reforms soon, not out of hate for immigrants, but because of pure necessaty. We need migrants and they are welcome, but thise numbers are ridiculous. Nobody wants the whole country to become Luxembourg-city: cramped, expensive as hell and you can forget about speaking Luxembourgish.

A Luxembourger here! When you count the % of immigrants, I understand that you count only the persons coming from a foreign country. What a bout the children of those "immigrants", who were born, raised, wet to school and now live permanently in the country? They are definitely not immigrants anymore, but citizens of foreign origin with their own culture but fully integrated in the new country, and even with the nationality of the new country. The numbers for Poland are not "outdated", but seriously wrong. According to estimates by Warsaw Enterprise Institute made in September (2023), there are about 3.5 - 4 million immigrants living in Poland, ca 2/3 of them being Ukrainian. Already before the war there were about 1 million of economic migrants from Ukraine in Poland. After the Russian invasion at least 5 million (and not one million) Ukrainian refugees crossed the Polish border. Many of them moved farther, but some settled in PL and now there are about 2.5 million of Ukrainians in Poland. Plus no less 1 million of other nationalities - mostly from Belarus, Moldova, Georgia and India. Jointly almost 10% of current inhabitants have come from abroad.

Actually Poland has one of the highest emigration in Europe-around 4%- ,but for same reason statistics do not consider emigration mostly from former Soviet Union republic as a migrants . Many of them are of polish origins, they grandparents were forcefully move by soviet regime to estern parts of Russia....so now their grandchildren are coming back, and that is good,they are very welcom

Ireland's numbers are crazy now. Our population is about 6 million, one in 5 are immigrants. This figure isn't sustainable, as our housing, healthcare and education systems are crumbling under the weight. It's too much for our tiny island.

@@Jetmab04 it's totally different! Irish people migrate to work, most are highly skilled and don't expect handouts from the host country. It's mostly Australia, UK, Canada, USA. They don't arrive on the shores, sponge off the welfare system, or have a huge sense of entitlement.

This does not mean we don't need to be treated within the written laws, regulations, treaties, conventions etc within the countries we stay in...we DO but, in European countries we clearly cannot be treated within anything...hence, many of us will leave Europe for good as soon as absolutely possible which is sad for Europe - not for us as, we will manage as we always do and, we'll get 100% of everything stolen from us, especially by the sad Colonial countries in which we sadly were born! To experience the 100% psychopathy we now experience from these subjects makes many of us leave for good, with absolutely no intention to help or contribute to anything European.... I have Lawyers from other continents, letting me know that, should I have any problems getting e.g pension etc from any European state, I just need to let them know how many years I've worked in the European countries I've lived in and, they will make sure I get what's mine!! This is lovely but very sad for certain European countries, who by now have made themselves more than known, for stealing pensions etc from their very own citizens constantly and, at the same time selling themselves as so very "happy" etc...always look behind the facade when you hear about too much "happiness" etc.. I, for my part, have lost 100% for certain "happy" European places...no respect for such subjects...absolutely nada!! If a country only have wealth because it steals from, are racist against both their own and others, then the value of such place, is gone forever and, the place need closing...once and forever!!!

PS...and, certain Irish civil servants have been exposed for stealing from Europeans in other countries hence, Ireland is not better than the rest of our black continent - especially when it comes to the horrible breaches (murders - on regulation 1408/71 - "free" movement)...I followed the reports over these murders until the numbers passed 100 million innocent people. The map is not that accurate. For example, in Portugal there are a lot of immigration, even more than a lot of the other countries. But it is so easy to get citizenship that a big part of them become citizens. Also, anyone born in Portugal is automatically Portuguese (as long as the parents are there for at least one year), while in other countries that is different. The opposite with Switzerland. It is so hard to get the citizenship accepted that a lot of people that could request it end up not doing it. People get rejected by the most dumb reasons, like no knowing the name of a local river, or not knowing how the local zoo keeps certain animals together or even the way they dressed normally (yes, all these reasons were used to reject applications for citizenship in the last 5 years)

BS. It's not hard at all to become a Swiss nowadays. There are tens of thousands who get the Swiss passport every year - many of them not even able to speak one of the national languages sufficiently. And some of them later turn out to be terrorists.

Regarding Bosnia. The Serbs and Croats in Bosnia aren't immigrants. They did not came from somewhere else to Bosnia Herzegovina, they are native population of this state. You have to take into account that ethnicity and nationality aren't the same. There is not such thing as "ethnic Bosnian" (note that Bosniaks, i.e. Bosnian Muslims, are not equivalent to "Bosnians"). Bosnian citizens may be Bosniaks, Croats or Serbs, but there are NO ethnic Bosnian (or ethnic "Hertzegovian"). Situation is somewhat similar to Belgium. There are no ethnic Belgians, but only ethnic Flemish (actualy ethnic Dutch) and ethnic Valonians (actualy ethnic French), but there are no "Belgian ethnicity".

Poland did leave its respective cathegory for sure (and it was more than 1,7 FOR SURE (!!!); I mean, cmon, im my city alone there were living 80k Ukrainians [who mainly came after 2014; after 2022 it escalated]). It is definitely higher than 15% if you actually counted the 3rd and 4th or even 5th generation immigrants like you should. But that usually isn’t done so they can pretend the situation is better than it actually is
