Thank you, my husband did my 10 point buck a few years ago, but it took him all day to do it. I don't think he took the skin off. So next year I might have to do my next buck this way. Thank you again great video.

It’s a lot easier this way! A good pressure washer is the key.
@MarkJLarsonOutdoorsАй бұрын
Great job! You do it just the way I do but I would like to give you a tip that really helps me out! I have a pallet with a wire twisted around a screw into the pallet to hold the skull when I pressure wash it! I run the wires up through the eye sockets and twist it down then flip it over the other way! Good luck with everything my friend!

Thanks! That sounds like a great idea, I'll have to try it.

I wish I would have seen this video yesterday. All others say to low simmer and it took me all day still not done yet. Rolling boil looks like it works and no broken bones 👍🏻

Yeah, it is a fast method! the pressure washer is the key...it takes a lot off fast.

Very nice work Chris. I do one added step at the end. Once the skull is dry I put mop and glow on the skull. Low gloss. It really helps with dust controll on the skull and it seals it.
@outofthewoodyardАй бұрын
Thanks! I'll have to try that!

Thanks for sharing! You do a great job. I'm torn between bleach and natural.
@outofthewoodyardАй бұрын
Thanks! I prefer the natural look. I was told not to bleach because it damages the bone???? The bone is...bone ...so???
@iowaoutdoorfamilyАй бұрын
@outofthewoodyard I've only ever bleached ill try non bleached next time. I have a big canner full of skulls simmering, try it on a beaver skull next.
@bigjohn20081983Ай бұрын
There was a trend down here for a while of hydro dipping European mount so the skull was a camo or something like that. I still don't understand why because I like the natural look like these myself

I’m gonna try your method. Cooked mine a lot longer than the pressure washer just blew the nose right off. Was thinking the pressure washer was too much but maybe over cooking was the actual problem
@outofthewoodyardАй бұрын
Yup, overcooking is definitely a problem. Glad you're going to try it!
@swamptosoundadventures83376 күн бұрын
The nose isn’t held on by anything you want to save anyway. It will click back into place once dry and if it doesn’t a drop of glue will do fine. Cook it low and slow, cooking quickly makes the bone brittle. Sincerely, a taxidermist 😂

Would this boiling work on small animal skeletons?
@outofthewoodyard20 күн бұрын
Sure but it would be different time amount and might be very touchy to control the amount needed to get desired results.

So if you want this done right find a big red ant den and build a fence around it that a varmit can get in to and place head in so the ants can get to it and let them do micro surgery on it and it wasn’t take but a mounth or so and can leave the bottom jaw if you wish.

Always get the brain out before you boil ..There is so much oil in the brain and by getting it out there will be less oil in the bone and will whiten a lot better …Love the video.

Boiling water doesn't get any hotter than 212F. Turning it up doesn't make it any hotter.
@outofthewoodyardАй бұрын
So turning it down does what?
@sayimsgt4953Ай бұрын
@@outofthewoodyard saves propane, less water loss due to lower vapor rate. boiling water ain't rocket science. the real work in this video is the pressure washer. good video when you watch it on 1.75 speed. thanks.
