I'm very impressed by this deck! We both know how rare it is to see well researched materials on Slavic beliefs in English! No crazy typos! Legit info! Just wow :D I'm so bummed my deck is on a hiatus, I still don't know what will happen to it 😢

Thank you for this walkthrough. I was shaking my head in agreement when you talked about goddess decks not working for you in general due to them containing goddesses from all around the world. That is precisely why goddess decks don't work for me either. But, this deck is really speaking to me as I connect with many of the goddesses in this deck. I was not sure about the artwork at first, but I can feel the intention & care put into this deck. I really love the colors as well. It is nice to see some lesser known goddesses like Nehalennia as well. I'm very excited about this. Thank you!

Pretty much agree with everything you have said. The disconnected mixing of deities from completely unrelated cultures has been one reason I have not purchased any deity sort of deck. I will be purchasing a deck and book.

Hi, this looks beautiful, but just curious, does it say from which European countries in particular these goddesses and spirits come from? As someone of Portuguese origins I've been trying to do research on gods and goddesses from before the Romans came, so this deck could have been a nice starting point. However, I'm not sure how many countries are represented in this.

There are goddesses and spirits from Celtic, Germanic, Greek, Norse and Slavic cultures. You must keep in mind that these beings come from before European countries as we know them today existed. So these five cultures instead cover specific regions of Europe where unique pantheons developed. For example Slavic deities and spirits would be relevant to all Slavic peoples which covers a bunch of countries. But in the descriptions in the big guidebook that I presented in this review you could see that Johanna specifies some more regional (country specific) characteristics. I admit I don’t know enough about Portugal to know which deities were revered there but you should be able to determine which of the aforementioned cultures thrived in that region - that’ll be your answer 🥰

I have lived in the UK for over 20 years and I have to say I got used to the fact that people mess up little that is known about Slavic beliefs. I really would love if you could recommend some sources. Ever since 'The Witcher' Slavic culture rose in popularity, but it has brought a lot of 'unwanted interest' I'm afraid. Thank you for sharing.

I know what you mean 🥲 Sources in English are still scarce which is probably why there is so much misinformation about our culture out there. That is why a few years back I decided to dedicate myself to write well researched articles & make content about Slavic culture, folklore and beliefs for the English speaking people who are interested. It’s all very accessible on my Patreon & my book in English about Polish folk magic should be out by the end of next year 😁

That will be the book I'm waiting for 🙂I do still connect to some Polish traditions, but daily, I feel more related to the spirits of the land I'm on. Shame I'm not a KZbinr. It is an interesting perspective ;-). @@polishfolkwitch

@@NorthbertR Ah, you know, perhaps you should consider starting a channel :) Honestly, that's the way to go -- connecting with the land where we are should come first; ancestral practices and customs will always remain present but moreso in the household.
