It has sense. Huhurez - Strix, Ciuf - Asio. Small owls has nawes with "ciu..". The name Cucuvea is similar to Turkish kukumav, Striga is similar to Strzyga, the female demon in Slavic mythology.

Cool, found the sound I was looking for, in my childhood memory we had a couple of owls at our summerhome in Finland, and it turned out the sound was from Asio Otus and Begging/Calling sound I remember we thought it was a Aegolius funereus but now I know we were wrong. Thats like 40+ years ago still remember the sound as yesterday

The sound of the tawny owl can be heard nightly here in the Eifel, and occasionally you hear the Eagle Owl’s deep hoot. Fascinating birds.
