European Railways in the 1990s Tunes Station (Portugal CP) on 26th March 1998

I almost every year used this line to go on vacations from Lisboa to Algarve, Lagos...what a different "Planet it was back then" , i did those trips in the 70s and 80S, yet more rural Tunes was, and the people there. In a way i miss that Portugal and that World lost in time now. Ah yes Algarve in those days was more tourist friendly, not many hotels and all more authentic and we could put a tent on some beaches no problem and no crime.

I got curious where all these places you visited are, looked them up on Maps and discovered that the modern Tunes station is totally unrecognisable. Instead of the rather rural scenes in the video there is now a modern, bright station with electric trains, the small train shed gone and level crossing closed for cars. No people walking over tracks, high platforms and fencing prohibiting this. The average train speeds will have increased a lot however, as time seemed not to play a huge role 25 years ago.
