The Schematic Diagram, BOM and Gerber-files is avalable on my GitHub: github.com/tkilla64/eurorack/tree/main/misc/psu_filter

Top work, Tommy! I love that approach - to actually fix things rather than switching system parts. Excellent video.

is this problem common in other MW PSUs like the common 65B?
@MeeBilt2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it is, but I haven't got any hands-on experience with the RT65B so I can't tell for sure. It's probably the most used SMPS for Eurorack so it is probably OK.

Do you have recommended reading on inductor part selection? I'm building a larger rack with about 8A positive and 5A negative. I'll be using some hefty TDK Lambda 12V 10A power supplies, but not sure on the ripple yet
@MeeBilt Жыл бұрын
Hello Jeff, you will find the specs of the inductor in the schematic: github.com/tkilla64/eurorack/tree/main/misc/psu_filter My advice is to plan the space for a filter board, but check the ripple of the TDK Lamda installed in your system before you add it - maybe you need it at all?

This is just wonderful. Ive been struggling with noise in my video synth, and im wondering if this might be an optional alternative to replacing the entire power system for something that runs alot cleaner.

Thanks, hope you get the noise issue solved!

For 10 years I have only ever used the expensive Doepfer or Clocks PSU (all around 180,--). Until 8 years ago, when I got a tip from a DIY Eurorack Master builder who only uses MW RT-65B. Since then, I don't put any expensive PSU in my self-built racks because it's unnecessary. The Meanwhell RT-65B is first class and costs only 25,--. No interference, no humming, no noise, very stable hosting, very stable bus boards which you can recognise by testing the OSCs. I can only recommend it to everyone.

Yeah, I will probably go for a Meanwell RT-65B in my next case.

I am in a position where I am going to need a new case. I was planning on 2 Meanwell RT-65B as PSUs with 3 filtered bus boards to fit my setup. I have heard everything and anything on these PSUs. What is your take on it?

Do you have a GitHub for this filter board?
@MeeBilt10 ай бұрын
Yes, I do: github.com/tkilla64/eurorack/tree/main/misc/psu_filter

Would you be able to say whether this would work with the meanwell RT-65b that is also very popular in Eurorack? Also, what if multiple units are utilised in the same rack??
@MeeBilt Жыл бұрын
To be honest I don't know if this filter is needed for a Meanwell RT-65B, but since a lot of people use that PSU my best guess is that it is not needed.

Please could you telle where you sourced the inductors? I've tried mouser/element14/lcsc and can't seem to find them.
@MeeBilt8 ай бұрын
I bought them from Elektrokit in Sweden (but they are quite expensive here): www.electrokit.com/en/product/toroid-choke-220%c2%b5hdc-920%c2%b5h-ac-203mohm-2-5a/ www.electrokit.com/en/product/toroid-choke-1mhdc-3-45mhac-405mohm-2-5a/ But you can probably find other sources here: se.rs-online.com/web/c/passive-components/inductors/leaded-inductors/ For example Bourns 2324-V-RC. RS PRO seems to have good price-performance Good luck with your build!
