You should have added a few highlights from Alves as well. IMO he played great today. (However, it's difficult to do something when a solid player like Ruud has a first-serve percentage of 89%)

Watching Casper is like watching Nadal on the clay, very similar style, pure power and precision. I'd like to see him use the slice more often like Nadal did and maybe volley a bit more but he is a solid classy player. I lost money the last two years backing him to win Roland Garros, I will back him again this year, I have faith in his ability, especially in this tournament.

Nah you will lose the point if you use slice players will use the slice as an opportunity to attack slices are only used when you want to halt the opponents momentum

Many of the power players can't handle a slice when it comes at them because they have to get down lower and also they have problems hitting with power when they connect with the slice. Djokovic used to hardly ever use it but since he got older he uses it more to reach shots on his backhand side when he knows he can't get there quick enough with his two handed backhand. Nadal had a very unusual slice, he was one of the very few who sliced straight down the line, usually when he was on the defensive. Most slice cross court because there is more margin for error, it is very hard to execute the shot like Nadal does. Daniil Medvedev is one of the few players I've seen who seems to be able to handle difficult slices from his opponent consistently and then generate a good power shot off it.

I just like to study the different styles, some players have great skill but rarely get to show it because it is very much a power game now. I was watching Holger Rune the other day against Dan Evans, he showed an amazing array of shots, I was very impressed.
