If u watched zhengs previous series vs Kerber it becomes quite obvious that Zheng doesn’t have „unlimited energy“ and was just as tired as any other player. Iga clearly had problems with handling pressure in this match. She was tense and stressed. This resulted in making tons of unforced errors. On the other hand, Zheng played superb tennis and made few errors. This is a great achievement by the Chinese player considering that the last time Iga lost in Paris was in 2021. Congratulations.

If you have never watched tennis and don't know who was playing who, you would have thought that Zheng was the seasoned champion and Iga was the young player trying to break through in her biggest match against much more established talent. Zheng was calm, strong and accurate throughout the match. Iga took a lot of chances and made more unforced errors. That said, Zheng controlled most of the points either with her serve or just her better ground strokes. She was the better player on this day.

Her moonballs and percentage tennis was very effective against a tense Iga who clearly felt the pressure. And maybe Collins' unnecessary comments yesterday really did get to her.

This just proves how great Kerber was playing when facing Zheng. She was able to neutralize Zhengs powerful strokes and forcing a lot of errors from zhengs racket. That form me was THE match of the Olympics this year. An absolute nailbiter.
