I don't know why some people think they know it all. The Paris to Waterloo version of our two Eurostar DEVs was filmed in 2003. It travels over CTRL1 (the first part of HS1) so cannot have been filmed in 1995. It is ill informed to suggest otherwise. The version from Brussels into St Pancras was filmed in 2008.

Bought it as soon as I saw the preview. It's still downloading, just 7 minutes to go, but, it had something I was amazed with, the Eurostar. I wanna hear everything about the route and the train! :)

I recall frequently seeing eurostars passing through Vauxhall station and I remember thinking that they (the trains) were not even breaking sweat. Downloading this something I MUST do asap. Great to record them on the third rail for posterity :)

All OHLE wires zig zag to stop a groove from developing in the pantograph, so yes it is intentional (and essential).
@netking663 жыл бұрын
The trains had to handle 750 volts DC third rail (south England), 25kV AC overhead (tunnel and France) and 3kV DC overhead (Belgium). The driver had to remember to lift the third rail collector 'shoe' when leaving third rail or it would get ripped off by trackside equipment in France. It was a big relief when the maintenance engineers could decommission the 750 volts DC option as this was apparently the most troublesome part of the electrics. A Eurostar I was in was held up for 20 minutes or so just south of Waterloo because of some electric fault. Fortunately I still arrived in Lille in time for my connecting train.

@@netking66 I was told that Eurostar removed the third rail shoes OVERNIGHT on the last day of service over the Southern. Couldn't WAIT to get rid of them....
@anthonyholroyd53592 жыл бұрын
@@video125com I'll bet they couldn't! Actually a little embarrassing to see a 186mph capable train like the 373s having to dawdle along through suburbia on the old southern region lines - especially after pelting over the LGV Nord (and latterly, as in this video, CTRL 1).

i live in ashford and still to this day the eurostars still whoosh over on the flyover section, it is still mesmerizing to see in person. I think the reason being is that the eurostar only stops at ashford if it is going to France cause whats the point in getting a eurostar to London from ashford when u can just get HS1 to st pancras so yeah.

How come this train can run on electrified and unelectrified lines?
@thethirdman2259 жыл бұрын
Javier Gomez IIRC, it doesn't. It used to run on three different systems, including the third rail domestic lines in the UK. AFAIK, that has since been made redundant with the introduction of HS1.
