i used to be a bus driver, he is able to get into that little train because he is watching his passenger side rear wheel in the mirror. since that is the pivot point, all you need to do is line it up with where you'd want it to be after straightening. keep in mind that even though the bus is long, the wheels are closer together than the total length, which gives you pretty good turning radius

@goglurk22 жыл бұрын
@@mighty9156 Not entirely sure why you'd assume he couldn't? I drive a bus for a living, anything from 10m to 24.8m with up to 3 joints and I'll drive through harder turns than this on a normal shift. From what I can tell, it's a single rear-axel VDL which actually makes these kind of turns easier, because as Ross mentioned, all you need to do is line up the rear axel and the front will follow smoothly. And judging by the video, the actual entry point on the cart for the train, has plenty of space. If I can put my hand inbetween what I'm driving next to, that's a lot of space between the bus and what's next to me. I will also say, that the driver is clearly experienced seeing how he gives almost no attention to the front, making it obvious that he knows what he's doing and how big his vehicle is.

I mean trains by nature have very little issue with weight due to their incredibly low rolling resistance. The car you drive very likely was brought there on a train in the first place. Ever seen the auto racks? In the US, while we don't have public rail that picks up your car, the auto racks likely brought your car there from the other side of the country. They're double stacked cars making them fairly unique to other rail cars. Just a shame we don't have this kind of transport. Rail is vastly cheaper to run and makes vastly less pollution.

Still mad respect to all the engineers involved that we as human beings managed to pull that off so precisely. Can still recall seeing a rerun of the footage on the children's news program of the builders celebrating the breakthrough. I was slightly to young to see the actual breakthrough moment, but still.

I only knew about the Eurotunnel because of the Gumball 3000, I've never actually seen footage on what actually happens, this is pretty cool. US is mainly continental. Where do you want the tunnel to be put? Florida to Bahamas to Puerto Rico?
@The_Empty_Shadow Жыл бұрын
There's the Amtrak Auto train that runs from Washington DC to Georgia, I think. More high speed passenger trains would be nice for crossing the continent and even across regions, and cat carrying trains would be nice, too.

@@MrFliederLP I'd love to travel one day, but I can't afford that. Also, you'd be surprised how different the states are from each other. @@MNNski That sounds interesting! Personally I am fascinated by the variety of nature America has to offer.
