And a global music sensation was born... ABBA still regarded as the greatest pop band of all time even better than the Beatles and I agree. Sweden waited 15 years of participating to win Eurovision, Safe to say Nova did them a big favor in Melodifestivalen 1973! Katie Boyle is arguably the greatest ESC host of all time, how was she not honoured by the Queen is beyond me!

The fact that Italy didnt voted sweden when they were in the second place was extremely suspicious.

It was better simpler fewer countries.just west europe then

by 1973 the EBU realized what a terrible voting system they've been using from 1971-73. Some of the juries gave less points than others (the Spanish jury gave the winning song the minimum score of 2 points in 1972), which they thought was unfair, so while they were thinking of a new voting system (this would eventually be the 12-point sys we've come to know), they reverted back to the 10-point system with the tie breaker for 1974.

12 this system 10 has been in continious 8 use since 1975, with a few modifications 7 such as from awarding points in order of songs performed 1975-1979 6 then from 1980 in ascending order 5 4 3 2 1

You ought to check out the uk entry that year with olivia newton john .she is wearing almost identical outfit to presenter even worse in a horrible shade of powder blue.so it must have been the old fashioned bbc designer for the uk in those days

josegodinama Era la primera vez que los países votaban desordenadamente y no en el.orden de actuación. Yo creo que ni sabía por que país iban ni que habían terminado.
