Dream Express performing "A Million in One, Two, Three", the Belgian entry at the 1977 Eurovision Song Contest.
One of that year's entries, along with Germany, Norway, Luxembourg and Italy, with which disco music showed its face at the contest for the first time, and the most successful of the bunch in the voting - quite understandable since it's a catchy, contemporary and well-performed number (though not one of my biggest favorites of the year).
Interesting note: The girl on the left is Stella, who'd also represent Belgium in 1982, achieving one of their best-ever placings. Actually, this is the 2nd of her 4 appearances at the contest, since she had already entered under the Dutch flag in 1970 (as a member of Hearts of Soul), while she'd also go on to do backing vocals for 1986 winner Sandra Kim.

I absolutely love this one. Quite infectiously catchy, and with some funny lyrics; an ambitious job interview? Awesome.

An irresistible, cute and catchy song. Yeah, this was the most successful disco experiment that year, very well performed and really gripping. Though the lyrics are really unusual; an ambitious job interview? They were written by Luc Smets, the man in the group, who also wrote the music.

Additionally, Britain's Alyn Ainsworth turned out a world-class orchestration inspired by his idol, Van McCoy.

I didn't know that about Luc Smets - thanks for the info. And you're right about the lyrics. they do indeed sound a bit peculiar. Incidentally, an interesting choreography there, too! :-D

Quite strange for being a Belgian entry, but a fine one nevertheless.

Actually, no. The reason for that is that a long-going strike by the BBC techinicians had left the British broadcaster with very little time to properly prepare for the contest. So, no postcards, just the views of the audience you see here.

A very good song and a very good performance. It deserve to win this ESC 1977. Tasosk3: Not Stella was one of the backing vocals for winner Sandra kim in 1986, but her sister Patricia ( the girl in the middle) was singing in this backing group that year. Stella appearances at the contests of 1970, 1977 and 1982.

Yeah, could this entry be more cheerful and catchy? Hardly, the choreography the icing on the cake. Incidentally, Belgium was the second of two countries that year (apart from the UK and Ireland, of course) who were allowed to sing in English, the other being Germany. The free-language rule was abolished this year but as both countries had already selected their songs, in English, they were granted an exception from the rule.

Correction: The girl on the RIGHT is Stella. On the left it's her sister Bianca. In the middle is Patricia. They were three sisters. The man is Luk van Kessel, a former band member of pop group The Pebbles, who scored a huge hit record with their song "Seven Horses In The Sky" . Bianca and him were a couple at the time. I don't know about now..

A few years before the three sisters participated as the Hearts of Soul for the Netherland with "Waterman". The girls are born in the Netherlands, I think in Harerwijk.

I don't think that's the reason. Apperantly, the filmed the postcards, but Sweden and Norway rejected them. The Norwegians felt they showed Anita Skorgan behaving badly in a nightclub, therefor did BBC replace the postcards with shots of the audience.

Interesting to know is that the music was played too fast compared to the original beat.... Vocals were great. Check out lalos Pebbles with Seven Horeses in the Sky... One of the better 60s popsongs from Belgium.....
