I think 1994 is one of the best contests in history. It had Riverdance, the biggest expansion of the contest (7 countries), Poland and Hungary having their best results so far, great songs, countries singing in their native languages, great hosts. Everything was just so good about 1994 contest. And native langauge rule and live music should be brought back.

What an amazing Contest. One of the best. Many great songs but for me Germany is the winner, and this is definitely they're best entry ever. Poland and UK are following with two excellent songs. And of course Ireland and Cyprus, the one with the beautiful simplicity and the other with the powerful performance ❤️

Ireland won again because along with the UK they were the only ones allowed to sing in English. That was often a big (and unfair) advantage at the ESC (the Abba year was an exception, there was no fixed language rule). When the language rule was abolished in 1999, Ireland no longer won and UK was no longer constantly 2nd. I'm very happy for the UK that it worked again this year 😊 Absolutely deserved because this time it wasn't the language, but the song and the strong performance.
