Was the all the 1995 Contest.Enya and experimental music had a big and unexpected impact on the musical scene all over the world.This year we had the most experimential Eurovision ever.In 1996,the pop songs are back on scene,just see the Gina G's efect.She doesn't win,but she does one of most played songs on that year.

One of my favorite moments is when the backing vocals are hitting the note at 2:22. It accompanies the main vocals magically. There is something wild in this song.

And going there with this masterpiece of a song and voice was an absolute mistake and no wonder it was completely lost in Dublin. A Big Mac lover ( = an average eurovision viewer) will never understand the appeal of king scallops lol.

Ta, jak również kilka następnych naszych piosenek nie była w tzw. eurowizyjnym stylu. Była z innego świata. Z innej bajki. Nie pasowała tutaj...tzn była za ambitna. Tak samo jak piosenki Kowalskiej, Jopek i Szcześniaka.

I don't really care about eurovision, I just keep coming back to this incredible song. Ah, the 90s. This weird, modern, melodic folktronica was 90s pop. It's almost unbelivable now. I highly recommend listening to Steczkowska's first two albums produced by late Grzegorz Ciechowski.

I know this is a five year old comment but in case you're still curious, the technique she's using to get a note that high and strong is by contracting her throat, which makes a lot less air have to pass through her vocal chords, thereby preserving air. I learned that technique as part of a swedish cattle call known as "kulning", you can check it out if you wanna know more. So it's still impressive, but it's honestly not that hard to sustain a note that long if you know this technique.

Oh yeah, some of her stuff from the 90s was very ahead of its time. Then again, she was initially inspired by artists like Bjork, Dead Can Dance, Portishead and This Mortal Coil, so I wouldn't expect nothing less than astonishing :)

Here’s how I see it …She produced this masterpiece at the same time when Bjork was recording “Post” and Portishead debuted with “Dummy”. And at the same time, I can imagine Justyna listening to “into the labyrinth” by Dead Can Dance from 1993 and “heaven or Las Vegas” by Cocteau Twins from 1990.They added some Avantgarde Polish folk into it and here’s how “sama” was born :)

I don't know what can I think about the first half, I hear two verses with thoose sweet-sounded folk instrumental parts and then maybe a strange bridge. But I feel something magical when she starts to dance and the song is raising with the vocals till that amazing high voice. It makes more magical, that I absolutely don't understand the song (and not only the lyrics) but it charmes me just like spring in the air.

This song and also presentation is nearly art. The harmonies are very difficult to 'understand' at first rehearsal. It grows after some hearing. She sing it very well, but the song is too weired BUT i love it so much!

Of course the juries of the 1990s didn't 'get' this, only giving it 15(!) points. But it would have sounded as fresh in ESC in 2022 as in 1995 and I know it would have got a lot of praise now. Imagine it with an up-to-date, well thought out staging!

It seriously did though, it fit right in, even if it is really “out there” in terms of composition and performance. 1995 is a year full of this stuff, and a good year at that too. This song, while initially really low on my ranking, really has grown on me. My 12th of 1995.
