Uk entry - I think the problem is the lack of real understanding or real appreciation of Eurovision in the UK music industry, this everlasting snobbery, which leads to this odd attitude and going into it again and again in bad faith, so to speak. Sam Ryder actually didn't do that, and that was his selling point, along with a marketable song and the fact he could - unlike Muller - actually sing his song live and promote it 24/7 during parties etc. I almost feel like Sam was an accident though, that they never even expected him to do well. I suspect it will come out after the contest (unless he wins, which he won't) when he gets a mediocre at best result, that Oly didn't want to do the contest, that it was the record company pressuring him into it to relaunch his career ....the same way Mae Muller's entry was basically part of her record company's desire to remould her as a pop star. Of course it won't encourage big names to try, but then again I think most have all the opportunity they need and wouldn't waste the time working for free for months on end to do Eurovision anyway, as it wouldn't benefit them unlike artists from more localised music markets who benefit highly from any international exposure.

Hey guys.....change the record!! We've all got the memo that you absolutely hate the UK entry ..that was established before we knew who would be representing , what the song would be like, if staging/ artist would be any good. Oh yes you had made up your mind beforehand. Now you're wondering why the UK struggles to bag itself a decent act ( Ollie is.... professional, good singer, quality and a star) and why song writers are hesitant to enter??? Guys why would you????
