In general the rough difference between Strategic and Tactical Nuclear Weapons is how they're upposed to be used and thus their power. Strategic Nuclear Weapons are "City-Busters", to be used against the population centers of a hostile power to ensure that the cost of war is at a maximum to serve as deterrence. Tactical Nuclear Weapons are supposed to be used against actual Military Targets against which conventional weapons aren't powerfull enough and are thus supoosed to be used in a hot mostly conventional war, for example against an Aircraft Carrier, an Airbase or a Command Bunker.

@Zileas01Сағат бұрын
that kinda goes for a lot of EU militaries too. it will take them years to recover from 30 years of underfunding. most of them don't have that much recent combat experience either, many of them left the heavy lifting to the US during their deployments in the last few decades. the US hasn't fought a near peer adversary in a long while either, but they do keep busy which is the next best thing. the other big flaw in nato that's always been known but has recently been painfully exposed is the reliance on high tech long procurement time weapons as opposed to the basics. nato plans for a big war typically go for a very intense but very fast war, with no real contingency for the attrition slugfest that will follow if it doesn't lead to a decisive advantage for either side. and unlike WW2, you can't convert a car factory to a cheap basic tank/plane/shell factory in the same way anymore.

Arguably a good proportion of NATO countries spend less than the agreed upon 2% of their government budget on their national defence. But no NATO country has ever requested the USA to spend about 30% on their NATIONAL defense budget. And considering Germany has a population of 84,5 million compared to the USA 335 million and the countries paying over 10% have a population in the 60 millions the country actually not paying its "fair share" is .... the USA.
