The incident unfolded at a highly emotional time for Joost. At the end of his performance, he saluted his father, a gesture that moved him to tears. Understanding the sensitivity of the moment, Joost had previously requested not to be filmed as he left the stage. However, after his semi-finals performance, a camerawoman continued to film him despite his repeated requests to stop. Overwhelmed and seeking privacy, Joost made a gesture towards the camera to insist she cease filming, although he made no physical contact with her. The camerawoman, perhaps feeling personally affronted, chose to file a complaint. The decision by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to withhold footage of Joost's alleged "threatening movement" has only fueled further speculation and confusion. Releasing this footage could have clarified the situation, potentially exonerating the artist and demonstrating that the decision to disqualify him was unrelated to this incident. Instead, it appears the disqualification may be tied more closely to Joost's controversial remark about Israels participation in the song contest. During a press conference, a Polish journalist asked the Israeli contestant, Golan, whether she thought her participation might pose a security risk to others, given Israel's ongoing military actions in Gaza, referencing the pro-Palestinian rallies in Malmo during the Eurovision Song Contest. Swedish presenter Jovan Radomir quickly intervened, informing Golan that she doesn't have to answer this question. It was at this moment that Joost Klein, interjected with a simple "Why not?", that challenged the avoidance of this delicate subject. This indicated his support for transparency and dialogue on difficult topics. His disqualification followed shortly after this interaction, not immediately after the alleged threatening gesture made days earlier toward a crew member. Additionally, if a formal complaint has been filed with Swedish police, the EBU should have allowed the legal process to conclude before taking action. Presuming innocence until proven guilty is a fundamental principle that should have guided their actions.

Not wanting to be a conspiracy thinker: but it's all being too coincidental... Knowing that there already was an agreement made not to film Joost after his performance. (Keep that in mind!) Then the specific interview where Joost was just being Dutch: being honest and to the point just that things are clear for the world, instead of going around the matter in circles... (That must have peed off the EBU...) Then after the performance he gets filmed against all agreements and being emotional, what would you do? Knowing that the agreement was made! They all talk about a threat, but I reckon he was in another state of mind and to the "victim" it must have looked like a threat. (Especially if you already had a brush with Joost about the same issue...) And funny enough she is/was hired/working for EBU... Then if he is filmed, what happened to the specific footage? If the police final report states he never touched her they could have shown it... But they didn't, so that's fishy... Then comes the verdict which was irreversible, if such an organisation can't sit around the table with Joost and AVROTros and give a first and last warning (which could warn others at the time of possible measures for certain actions) you give countries the time to rethink possible actions in the future. Now the irreversible measure would cause fear than time to rethink, so tensions rise with future festivals... So you just created a kind of dictatorship. (Hooray for EBU...) Looking at the timeline you would nearly say it looks like the situation was orchestrated, just because Joost was being Dutch and they were not having it. But I love the line from Switzerland in the aftermath: maybe the Eurovision may need some fixing. 😎 Briljant!

It was him asking that question? It wasn't shown on footage I saw on this interview with Eden, but this would make much more sense now.. such a disgraceful move from EBU.

Joost allowed himself to be provoked by the Israelis into a stupid act. Against the agreements and despite several warnings, he is continuously filmed backstage by "camerawoman" Keren Peles (the songwriter of the Israel team). When he gets angry and loses his temper, the Israel team presses charges. Joost does not need to feel ashamed. Millions of Israel's neighbours have preceded him over the past 76 years. Israel is the largest financier of the Eurovision Song Contest, Maroccanoil is an Israeli company. As long as this is the case, we better not participate in this nonsense anymore. Israel is not a European country, let them organize a festival in their own region...

There's no excuse for expelling Joost from the contest! And if the organizers really wanted to separate politics from entertainment/music than the Russia Federation should take part of Eurovision song contest just as Israel took part. Why should the artists take the blame for politicians wrong doings? Something to think about: before there was something called Ethics that could distinguish Politics from Art and from Sports!
