The fandom really annoyed me on this because they weren't particularly nice about W95M's implied nudity/skimpiness however he was not the only one this year (Raiven, Bambie, Nebulossa's Dancers, Olly's Dancers) but because people don't see him as 'conventionally attractive" he got hate for it. When it was actually HIS art, his expression and meant for comedy purposes. And I too thought it was clever and funny! Plus it's a bop. Takes me back to 90s dance! The whole song is about being free to be yourself so it made me sad that people slated the implied nudity and didn't see it for what it was. Plus from BTS him and Henri seemed lovely!

Thanks for the reaction! 🤗 It's a winner for me. It's the best song and best performance this year. It is very sad that they took only 19th place, they were worthy to enter at least the top 10. I don't understand why people didn't vote for them. It's sad that most people take it as a joke. 😟 The song has a serious message and text that rises with ingenious humor, which cannot but be appreciated.

The egg is a reference to the Finnish folklore, Kalevala, where the world was born out of the egg of a golden eye duck. Henri's boots are also in the style of boots made in those days out of birch bark (virsut). There is also a Spa Remix version of this and they performed it in bathrobes blowing bubbles on the Eurovision stage. Lots of humour! So much fun! 😁 And yes, please react to Blind Channel!!

So, there's a few things about this: 1. The Windows logo is censored, even though they got permission from Microsoft to show the logo they thought the censorship was funnier 2. The guy singing in the blue coat is the writer, he wasn't meant to be singing the song but they couldn't find someone with a wide enough vocal range for this song (it's actually got a fairly impressive range to it, and the chorus is quite challenging) 3. He naturally isn't actually naked, he's wearing a flesh coloured pad or pouch over his gentleman's sausage 4. He got came last in jury votes in the Finnish qualifying competition, but got such an overwhelming majority of the public vote that he won and got sent to Eurovision 5. This song did actually chart in the UK, it made it to number 50

@@jhkoazfm That's true, but since windows 95 is not in use anymore and there is no active trademark for it or anything it was allowed, but like the original post said, they thought the censored logo was funnier.

Apparently there was a bit of an issue in the rehearsal performances because his sausage was actually partially visible as it had fallen out.

The song was done in 2020 and he was planning of going to ESC earlier, but couldn't find a singer and also came the lockdowns. Windows 95 mans trademark has been his small denim shorts and the window t shirt, from there they took the denim clothes. The egg is from the Finnish Kalevala epos, where the world is born from an egg, the singer Henri is the bird. Lots of meaning actually in the performance, and the song was one of the best and the lyrics too, sadly it was one of the most hated too

In Finnish national final performance he turned those sparkles into his wings. That's when I was sold. The story started already before the national final though with his introduction music video, which showed a birth of an artist. Well, the story started already years before with that outfit, which made him popular and which then became his artist imago. Sometimes all it takes is a fun T-shirt and groovy shorts. Not much song catalogue to go through there, because that's his first single. Being a DJ is his background.

I also got the Gunther vibes from this. He actually played in Malmo this year, just before Eurovision, sadly 2 days before I arrived so I didn't get to see him. Windows 95 Man was wearing some very small, skin coloured pants. It was filmed well to hide them from the camera, I suppose that was arguably a treat for the people in the arena only. Really excited for your Blind Channel video now, saw them in April and they were so good I became a fan.

A thought on a possible Eurovision series of reactions -- as someone relatively new to following it myself, it seems like each song can have 2-4 versions, and this could make for a lot to react to, or merit a planning of which versions to react to. There's often something live or preliminary (in Bambie Thug's case, this was a poorly-mixed and low-budget staging on what looked to be a late-night talk show, the final was a hell of a glow up), a possible change (eg - Albania this year selected a song in Albanian and ended up performing in English; Armenia last year added a wholly unnecessary dance break), the studio recording/music video, and the actual on-stage Eurovision performance. I am totally here for more Metal MuseXEurovision, but I lay this out to hopefully protect against reactor burnout. (oh, and a vote for reacting to Australia 2023)

You should react to Czechia's Eurovision entry - Pedestal by Aiko. It has a very 2000s punk vibe. Sadly, Aiko didn't qualify for the grand finale. She was short of 5 points. Then, Joost Klein from Netherlands was disqualified, but EBU didn't consider Aiko to enter the finals. However, Aiko met a drummer from Megara, so she didn't win a trophy, but she got a girlfriend instead :-P

Emmm I enjoyed the bit with Gojira and the headless Marie Antoinettes. I was in Versailles last year and just finished a really good biography of her so it was a weird moment for me seeing that. Like I’d just been reading about her beheading actually and what happened to her daughter, son and her exhumation and reburial … twas weird to then see a headless version on TV with metal music.
