The "ooh na na na" in the second song sounds like The Fugees "Fugee la la". And yes I can hear Diana King's "Shy Guy" in there. I mean, the 90's were an awesome time for feel good music so I dont blame them for channeling some of that feel good vibe. I do think France have got it right this year though. Last year it was pure dated dirge. This year THEY. ARE. BRINGING. IT.

what a strong selection by France for next year. it even feels like a Melodifestivalen deltävling, in my opinion. my favourites so far (no particular order: -Philippine's "Bah non" (it feels like it could be "Hvala ne" 2.0 if it wins the selection, can also be described as if Alma [France 2017] had her attempt on "Hvala ne") -Andriamad's "Alléluia" (if it is staged well, it can potentially be the French KEiiNO's "Spirit in the Sky") -Casanova's "Tutti" (such a happy song, and he looks a bit like Francesco Gabbani, and it makes sense since he is from Corsica and Corsicans are ethnically close to Italians)

6:20 this bit Deban is talking about reminds me of 'Way Down' by MØ - just me? Voila is my favourite but I love so many songs here, very strong selection!
@VICKY08TZ3 жыл бұрын
I can't see any other winner than Barbara Pravi 💕 Voila is the ultimate tribute to Edith Piaf! And if you pay close attention to the lyrics "Voila, Voila", the way they are sang, resemble "Padam, Padam" by Edith. The lyrics refer to an artist's existential crisis and depressive creativity, which, come to think about it, might be a bit too much for the ESC audience. Too artistic? Nonetheless, this is a French song in its wholeness and the best participation from France in a long time!
@NewLifeHabbo3 жыл бұрын
I hope Voila will win. It's definitely top-10 material and it also honours French culture really well. I didn't vote in our two previous NFs but I definitely will this time.

French here : I don't get why people are underestimating Maeva, it's like the most ESC song in the bunch, if they could add a key change, more backing vocals in the last chorus and just rework the bridge to make it longer, that's a recipe for success. It's uplifting, it's catchy, it adds a flavor never seen before at eurovision. It doesn't try too hard to be something else it feels genuine. Also it reminds me A LOT Keiino which was lowkey underrated at first.

Top 5: 1. Andriamad - Alléluia - 9.25/10 1. Amui - Maeva - 9.25/10 3. Cephaz - On A Mangé Le Soleil - 8/10 4. Casanova - Tutti - 7.5/10 5. Barbara Pravi - Voilà - 7.25/10 Winners: Andriamad - "Alléluia" & Amui - "Maeva". These two songs both feature many simularities, both showcase more than just Mainland France, with Amui featuring more Tahitian and Oceanic references with choreography and instrumentals especially with the Hakka motifs throughout the song, whereas Andriamad features more French Africa and French Middle-Eastern references especially with the muezzin/adhan chanting like vocal part-way into the song, which gives Alléluia a more, Years and Years inspired feel to it, especially when you compare it to their song "King" which smashed charts all over Europe and beyond. Both songs, like with all songs in this National Final need revamps with these two, there isn't much room for failure. Both Potential Top 5 material in the contest, if either advanced. (Before people start in the comments below, I know there can't be 2 winners I know but out of these two I cannot chose.) Third Place: Cephaz - On A Mangé Le Soleil. This is just so hopeful and inspiring, a good torch song for France, Cephaz gives me Michal Szpak comparisons and a real chance to do some damage in the public vote if the staging is right and the running order doesn't screw him over, but overwise this could be a underdog contender to place very well at Eurovision, not as well as either of the "winners" mind you but still a sufficent result given Frances' past. Fourth Place - Casanova - Tutti. A sacchrine, indie-pop inspired number with a lot of 'joie de vivre' its reminds me so much of Malta 2013 Gianluca Bezzini with it's easy listenablity, rememberable quality and instrumentals and smooth vocal tamber/timbre. Again, very Spotify friendly, you could put this into a variety of playlists like a roadtrip playlist or a workout playlist and have it work perfectly fine. A contender, but understandable if it didn't win. Fifth Place: Barbara Pravi - Voilà. This song is good. I do confess it is good. However, it is also not as contemporary as people think, it has one or two modern elements, it has more to do with the chanson era of Jacques Brel and Edith Piaf not with the era inspirees of Seemone; who is in my opinion, the french of equivalent of a hybrid between Amy Winehouse and Adele in terms of vocal ability. Barbara Pravi is not someone who could win this for France for the first time since 1977, she ain't even close. Even though she can sing, if this were to advance this will get lost in the melee of songs, this isn't the revitalized chanson that people wanted, I'm sorry to say but, it isn't. To put this in perspective in terms of votes if it did advance, It would do the same as Lucie Jones in the Juries and about the same as Norway and Greece in the televote that same year, She would be in the Top 13 as I expect all of my Top 5 to do if they advanced but this will finish the lowest out of them. Honorable Mention. Philippine - Bah Non. Amandine Bourgeois meets Fergie. Need I say anymore?

Poor Terrence has no chance. France won’t send a British singer. Pony X are my favourite with Andriamad second and Maeva third. Voila is definitely a stereotypically French Eurovision song. Voilà is a good song but it focuses on her/one person. I can't relate to Barbara Pravi in that song. I am French. It is a contender for the Eurovision France 2021 crown. However, it will not fare well at the Eurovision as it is easily forgotten. Aux oubliettes! My favourite French entry is Bah Non by Philippine. Even though it might not win on the decision night, Philippine has great potential in the French musical scene. Pony X and Terrence James are perfect for clubbing. Hat off to Corsica and French Polynesia for bringing the flavors of the French diverse culture. I love that a lot! Céphaz has good vocal skills. Alléluia is perfect for Eurovision Song Contest: a strong contender who may lose the crown on the night. Magik is a 1990s repeat so not so much originality there. Enjoyable to listen to. I like Ali's stage presence. Give that Queen her crown! The rest of the artists are forgettable. That's what I think. What do you think? May the best win on the night!
