"VW is using LG Chem NCM712 Pouch cells for Europe, SK Innovation Cells for USA and CATL for China."

No LG Product I've ever owned has lasted or been reliable. Microwave, Washing Machine, small appliances, even other LG batteries in other products I've had (Though none went up in flames). My mother had a LG Microwave, EXPENSIVE one, the kind that go above the stove on the wall, has the vent and all the bells and whistles. After 3 warranty replacements in the first year, she got fed up. She managed to get through the phone system at LG USA and got right to the desk of the USA LG CEO. Not sure how she pulled that one off. Got all her money back on that one.

Ford Mustang Mach-E or BMW i4?

I haven't seen an i4 yet. Suppose it could be a Mach E. That was the best video of it I could get.

It was an ioniq 5. Funny to think I watched you film this

Video was actually filmed and provided to me by my wifes friend. I was there Monday, might be there tomorrow.

Well, since it wasn't a Tesla, it appears the mainstream media decided not to rake VW through the coals. In fact, appears VW is doing a major recall due to battery fires, and if I hadn't specifically looked for it, would never have heard a word about it. Again, if it was Tesla, this would have made Global News, and we'd be hearing about it from everyone, everywhere, for weeks!

wonder if it was from a shit product charging a frozen battery?
@KmanAuto11 ай бұрын
Updated description, it was a Hyundai Ioniq 5. So... It was a Hyundai, which will explain a lot... Frozen batteries can't be charged. Battery Management System will not allow a lithium battery to be charged until it warms above 32*F (0*c). Charging a frozen battery however will not cause it to start on fire. It will actually internally electroplate itself, causing permanent irreversible capacity loss. Some formulations of lithium batteries however can charge at colder temps, though exponentially more expensive. Further, at least from what I can gather from the information available, it was not charging, and the battery was not the cause of the fire.

Forgot how that goes thanks, seen Prowse do a lot of battery pack teardowns and find bad thermal protection

@@kradius2169 VW is using LG Chem batteries. They were already recalled from the Chevy Bolt due to battery fires. Now it appears VW's are being recalled for the same issue. No idea what the initial ignition reason was for this vehicle, however, doing some google-fu, appears that VW's are going up in flames at an alarming rate. Personally, Everything LG that I've ever owned, from appliances to even, small devices, that used LG batteries, have been complete garbage. I personally will no longer purchase an LG device/Appliance, and definitely not own one that has a LG battery.
