I am a 65 year old television /radio broadcast engineer, studio engineer, radio disc jockey and musician. I was/am crazy about Eva Cassidy. These musicians and the technicians producing this have my highest respect...very professionally done, and a genuinely brilliant presentation of one of my most favorite songs by Ms Cassidy. I adore this girl's voice and would love to hear her do Fields Of Gold and anything else she and her band feel inspired to do. This is very tasteful, classy. Wow. Eva would be very pleased.

Such a sweet and sentimental lost love story song. It was one of my fathers favorite song. Life is just like Autumn leaves drifting in the wind, not knowing what will unfold before you. And perchance, you brush up against your true love like two ships passing in the night. And you are left with just fading memories as the years go by.

This song was 50-years-old before Eva Cassidy sang it. It was written in 1945 by Hungarian composer Joseph Kosma with lyrics in French by Jaques Prevert, "Les Feuilles Mortes" and was sung in the movie "Les Portes de la Nuit" by Eves Montand and Irene Joachim. Johnny Mercer wrote the English lyrics in 1947. It quickly became a standard loved by Jazz musicians, at least 25 recordings appeared before Eva Cassidy's 1996 version. It is one of the most beautiful songs ever which is why it is still recorded.

Eva Cassidy was a brilliant artist and her light will shine far into the future. This is a cover of a song that has been done by many illustrious artists, it isn't rightfully described an Eva song. Her version is haunting, I don't know if I would have evoked her masterful rendition when describing this rather pedestrian performance. The comparison isn't flattering.
