I Found Eva far too Late . I remember working on a Carnival 🎡 in Essex Md. Late Spring 1980, I’m from Niagara Falls all my life but my job was on strike 🪧 at Niagara University I was a dorm janitor (by Summer we lost the strike) I gave a friend’s girlfriend a ride to Fairfax Va so she could work with her Boyfriend. Worked with an independent kiddy ride owner . I had a 1965 Ford Econoline Window Van 🚐 that was slightly sectioned 6” roof was 6” lower than a stock van by curing body not windows 🪟 to lower the total body height. Well I was in driving range to have seen her live bummer that was around my 25th Birthday and I met Goraldo Rivira of 20/20 but he wouldn’t talk to me because I ran a kiddy ride. Oh well his loss. I tried to turn him on to a different carnival 🎡 in NY State extremely bad rides . That show in Essex Md was a top notch show all the rides were up & up in my eyes 👀 they had 3 Full trailers of spare new replacement parts where that NY Show couldn’t afford to keep their rides safe

Agreed. When the orchestra is in the lower register it sounded good . . . like a nice cushion. But the sustained string on the root in the upper register, damn it Luca . . . that smothered. And it added tension you do not want in this song. She's already creating all the tension that's needed.

Yes, Eva has a Golden voice. Hers stands by itself, and is so beloved by many. Just her choosing this masterpiece of song-writing 'tune' by Sting tells a lot by itself. And no one has to compare here cover versus the master's original. Me, I want all of them. And will listen to BOTH versions, going forward. Godsend.

You can have an Americans Got Talent star and train them how to stand. You can help them with pitch, use auto tune, teach them how to sing with passion, how to reach the audience, and all the rest. But you cannot teach this kind of talent. There are vocalist with a great voice. There are those with a mediocre voice who can sing there butts off. And there are those who have both. They come once in a generation. You can't teach what Eva had! Her school was life. Whether happy, or sad, in love, or in mourning. The ups and downs of life groomed who she was and her music showed that. On a scale of one to ten her voice was an eight, but her singing, emotion, and passion, was an eleven! We miss you! It's sad she became famous after her passing! In this reality all true artist are more famous after they pass. Thank you Eva, you left us with this amazing legacy of your heart! From heaven looking down we want you to know we love you!!

While scrolling through Eva Cassidy videos I saw this and wondered what someone did to the song because I know her original version did not have an orchestra. I usually don't like 'covers' but this is not the case. I will always love the purity of Eva's vocals and appreciate that she had 'her band' accompanying her on this song, I think the added strings give a fuller and deeper emotional feel to the song. Glad I watched. Thank you. North Hillls CA USA 03-12-2021

As McCartney would put it, I'd say you took a sad song and made it better... The arrangement is nice and supportive overall, and the string layers are very well done, although in my humble opinion has consistency issues in some sections and lacks an overall thematic approach. I like the restraint you took by not trying to add too much, harmonically or contrapuntally. The string samples you used sound nice, although the levels could be tamed a bit (too overwhelming in a few places). But please tell me why you needed to transpose the pitch up at all? It was the first thing I noticed the first few seconds the song started playing, and I'm sorry but it was too much for me to bear. You can easily hear the nasty artifacts resulting from the pitch shifting. Perhaps you can try MPEX (with the Dirac option) or Izotope Radius to do it, although I believe it would still sound bad since you're transposing the whole mix...
