Humans have been building fires in the forests for 18,000 years. Only in the last 20 has the climate change catastrophe been so exasperated that any spark can immediately burn an entire forest to the ground. Sorry sweetie, there's always been arsonists. You now live in the future climate scientist had been warning about since the 1970s.

Why isn't the pine beetle destruction and death of the BC forest ever considered the fire reporting. Lightning has decreased ability to start fires in greener timber........

Odd that no one talks about Climate Cycles, for example, the current GLEISBERG CYCLE strikes every 90 years, and has done so for centuries. The last time it was here, it brought the Drought & Dustbowls of the 1930s. Modern Journalism seems to have no historical perspective these days. This has happened before, along with the current solar cycle, and the decreased earth magnetic shield. This same cycle will come back, ninety years from now.

Yeah, Albertans get their water from glaciers which are receeding. When the glacier runs out, so does the water. Hence the water rationing you dunce.

Almost 300 NIGHTS a year, a lightning storm rages in a small part of Venezuela. Known as Relámpago del Catatumbo (Catatumbo Lightning), the storm is located where the Catatumbo River flows into Lake Maracaibo. Warm air from the Caribbean meets the cold air from the mountains, creating the perfect conditions for lightning. There are about 1.6 million lightning strikes a year at that one location, and the flashes of lightning can go on for seven to eight hours. Much of it is 'dry lightning", meaning no rain. Dry lightning is the most likely to cause forest fires because of there being no accompanying rain.

Yes, but they're getting more and more devastating each year. Last year, we more than *doubled* our previous record for area burned by wildfires.

Unfortunately it's come to the point where virtually every town / city in BC will need to be surrounded by a fire break. Basically and 4 km wide swath devoid of vegetation.

It’s almost like nothing has changed, and summer is occurring here. The average number of forest fires per year in BC is ~ 1500. 42% are from arson, and 58% from lighting… on average. We’re well below that number, and very close to September when temperatures start to dip again.

The carbon tax is the reason bc has theblowest income tax rate in the country at 5.2%. It saves BC residents almost 3000 annually compared to somebody in Alberta paying over double.

True, but in BC the carbon tax just goes to decreasing the personal income tax of all BC residents to 5.2% the lowest in the country. Albertans pay over twice as much than those in BC because of hiw they structured theirs .
