Losing friend to CF in high school made me sign my organ donor card. He died waiting for a transplant and I wanted to help but couldn't do anything and made sure I would help who I can to live even after I am gone. I lost another friend to CF a few years ago to a rare lung infection. It's something I hope and pray they find a cure for.

Working w/ CF patients in hospital led me to hate the disease and admire the courage and dignity of those suffering from it, most of whom are kids and young adults of course -- how tragic and cruel to wait for a lung transplant, and then have it fail -- RIP Eva

I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter. I made this movie for everyone like her and for everyone out there who is still waiting for a second chance at life. Best wishes to you. Thank you so much for continuing to walk in Great Strides. That must be very difficult. You are so strong. Thanks for the support!!!

I always strongly opposed organ donation for me and my loved ones. I looked at it very closely and found the procedure for donors extremely cruel, especially because of the fact that the donors are given anesthetics before the operation - and a dead body does not feel pain and does not move anymore. A "real" dead body, as it required for donation and told to be by physicians, would not need anesthetics... and this still is a horrific thought for me. But after "meeting" Eva and knowing that there a many Evas in our world, I changed my mind. I think that at the end of my days. Yes I can do it, I can go through some possible pain to give somebody a chance or a new life, somebody who suffered so much more his whole life long than I ever will.

they generally only use brain-dead donors like motorcycle riders who didn't wear helmets. When the brain is no longer active, and the body does not respond to the various pain stimuli they give the person, the anaesthesia is just a precaution and not "necessary". If the body was totally dead, circulation would stop and the organs would not be viable.
