Nice lot. Curiously, I have a Technics deck from the same generation as the RS-M88 ... and when I opened it up two years ago, all the capacitors were still good. Well, at least the audio played okay and the motors ran smoothly. The real bad boy was the rec/pb switch.

Hello. I constantly watch how you bring worthy devices back to life. It's nice that there are such goldsmiths these days. I myself am a humanitarian, so almost everything you do is outer space for me... I myself still listen to music on cassettes and CDs. And recently I encountered a strange problem. Two cassette decks and a JVC CD player are connected to the JVC AX 311 amplifier. A couple of months ago, while listening to a cassette, some kind of noise started coming from the speakers - the music stopped and started playing like a radio set catching a very weak signal. I started shaking the cables, thinking that they were making bad contact - nothing helped. However, I accidentally turned on the CD player. The cassette started playing cleanly again, the noise disappeared. And so constantly - I turn it on, listen sometimes for half an hour, sometimes less and noise comes from the amplifier. I turn on the CD player or another deck (just turn on the power) and the noise disappears. What's the matter? I don't know anything about electronics. But maybe someone has ideas? I'm not afraid to experiment.

That Realistic SCT-10 looks remarkably like part of a Bush Arena "Hi-Fi" set that I was gifted earlier this year. Bush was a budget brand here in the UK. I would say that your unit probably dates from around 1972. The set I have consists of a Bush Arena FM Stereo receiver that looks like it was assembled in the Netherlands, a Japanese made Bush model C435 cassette recorder, a pair of ridiculously large headphones with a mono/stereo switch and volume slider on each can, they sound truly awful because they are just a pair of cheap transistor radio speakers in hollow plastic shells. Also included are a rather good sounding set of loudspeakers, a pair of microphones, some D.I.N. interconnects and a Garrad Model SP25 MkIII record player. All gifted from a workmate's house clearance. All of it seems to be in great cosmetic condition. Think you are right about the cassette deck, I've already checked inside mine and there are electrolytics aplenty in there! Nice haul you've got there.

The M88 gonna be fun. My M77 is my best 2-head deck, the build quality is on another level. Have you noticed how wide these things are?

I've noticed it has its own gravitational pull... seriously, it's already tempting me to work on it. So is the Pioneer.

You may want to grab a 3-head Teac V-1050 if you get the chance. After calibration, mine manages 20Hz to 20kHz within 1dB with a crappy TDK FE tape when using Dolby C. The electronics noise is so low that Dolby C can give a genuine 80dB signal-to-noise ratio, and wow and flutter measures 0.045% WRMS. I picked mine up cheap brand new in an end-of-line sale some time around 2000 and won't be parting with it unless it dies before I do. Apart from the lack of DBX, it wipes the floor with a CT-970.

last deck is awesome... Congrats, very good price! Before your try to use that bsl, soon i will release small video about this - it doesn't fit well need to drill tape transport bracket(i decided to not to do that) and i would not recommend to run it from audio transformer. I got totally separate psu for it (+-12v and +-10V) to not overload audio transformer. W&F 0.04wrms worse than aka "pacific stereo" that was 0.02wrms and even less. Also i find out why i had bad speed stability. in the end i left device with aka "pacific stereo" motor- You have to adjust capstans back pushing screws.

@ i was able to fit bsl but just for testing front of device have been floating in the air :) but to permanently fit it just too much stuff have to be done and most of them would definitely put some stress for me, that’s why i went back to that “aka pacific stereo” one :) anyway thats just my story in the end ;) i think everyone still will be more than interested to see how you test that bsl in xk009 :) I see good content will go out in your channel soon! My plan was to test the BSL motor in the XK-007 before trying it in the XK-009 to see if the power supply would work - that way the XK-009 isn't at risk if the power supply doesn't work.

@@Oklawolfxk009 have two transformers, xk007 have one. Basically they have different PSU’s. The best method is to use independent psu for that motor, but that requires to buy 10w transformer of at least 12-0-12 ac configuration - and don’t be afraid to run bsl motor all the time when tape deck is “on” because it will not hurt tape transport in any way. 😊

Probably I will try the original transformer from my TC-K75 - I should be able to use the center tapped 29V winding from it to power the 10V and 15V voltage regulators.

Possible Nak Killer ? It depends from what Nak model you compare , these are medium to good decks especially the last one in the video the Pioneer CT-970 is very good one but yet again the top Nak models are uncompareable with these here .

Hi. Great decks there. I got a NAD6140. Powers up but motor doesn't run. Basically nothing on the mechanism works. Tested the motor and sold and it is fine. Any idea what I could check? Thanks.

I have no experience with NAD yet so I'm not much help at the moment. I do have a 6340 on the shelf I need to get to sooner or later.
